Yo, I'm new to the smash boards. I play 64 version a lot in my apartment with my roomates, played melee here and there, and look to really get into brawl when it comes out. I know what wave dashing is and everything, but haven't learned because like I said I don't have melee(I have been a primarily halo player) but when brawl comes out if it's as good as it looks I will def be focusing on it a lot, maybe even dropping halo for it.

I'll be honest, a majority of the serious competitive SC player I even know of are posting now...which 3 or 4. I know of them through by meeting them and hearing of them by other serious smashers.

Are you guys having good luck finding some other players in your area with this? I know I tried this using this thread and nearly all of everyone I try are blow offs and are mostly random, passing by casuals.

I hope I don't sound negative, I don't mean to be. I just want to see how this is working out for others.

On a more positive note, the Anime Club at TTC will be holding a Smash tournament. I'll be running it, so things should be done properly. No word on whether prizes will be offered though.

What makes Brawl garbage? I'm not exactly heavily into the Smash scene, but I try to keep them somewhat involved with tournaments and what not. I was actually saving up for a Wii just to get Brawl since it'd be a fresh game.

Would love to know so I can decide whether or not to get a stripper at FR11 instead :D

This locator thread seems to be primarily for Melee. I think I'm going to create one for Brawl. This list is old and outdated for an old and outdated game, 'nuff said. If you guys want to keep it going, kudos to you all but I'm personally out of Melee. Brawl is the future, and that's what I'm looking at.

Imagine any fighting game you enjoy. Now imagine if you had to play it at half the speed.

My personal gripe is the actual gameplay itself. It feels floaty, slow, yadda yadda, feels like a mario party game and not like a fighter.

it IS FUN though. VERY fun, at that. A great roster, tons of stages, yadda yadda, but as a competitive game? I'd say no. It doesn't have what I like about Melee. And combos are few and far between. And they removed wavedash, crouch cancel, double jump cancel, b move lag cancel, basically any kind of cancel you can think of.

Remember I said the game is fun, a blast to play. But it's not something I'd drive 5 hours to Georgia for a tournament for. End of story.
