These are the rules that you must follow when posting teams or rating others' teams.

Rules for RMT Posters

Rule 1: You must post a complete team. This means you must have 6 pokemon and all of the information about your pokemon must be provided. It is okay to occasionally not be sure of a move choice or an item, but this should be kept to a minimum.

Rule 2: Your RMT must be readable. There should be very few or none spelling and grammar errors and everything should be formatted properly. Your leading pokemon should be the first pokemon shown followed by the body of your team. Pictures are not required, however they do make your RMT look a lot better.

The proper format for pokemon is this:

Pokemon @ Item
Nature | Ability
EV Spread
~Move 1
~Move 2
~Move 3
~Move 4

*detailed description of pokemon's role*

Rule 3: Tell us about your team! A general overview of how your team works as well as a specific description of each pokemon's job must be included in your RMT. This makes raters' job a lot easier.

Rule 4: Make sure the current version of the team is the one in the OP. If you make edits to the team make edits in the thread as well.

Rule 5: Make sure your thread title is appropriate. If this team is to be used in any tier other than standard OU then the thread title should tell the viewer that.

Rule 6: Take Raters' suggestions! The reason you are posting this is to get advice. If you feel like your team is perfect and refuse to change it then you shouldn't be posting an RMT

Rule 7: Do not use annoying fonts, colors, etc. It will have a more negative impact than otherwise because it makes you look like an attention *****.

Rule 8: This is a forum for the regular 4th and 5th-gen metagames, not one with any custom or modified Pokemon.

Rule 9: Do not post teams solely for in-game use. Instead post them in the Snorlax Room where we will be more than happy to help you out. Wifi teams are completely okay.

Rule 10: Test your team before posting it and say what pokemon/strategies in general you are having trouble with. This makes it much easier for raters to improve your team.

If an RMT that you post fails to meet the standards outlined here it WILL be locked. To get your RMT unlocked you must PM a moderator with required edits to make your RMT follow these rules, do NOT repost your RMT.

Here is a good example of an RMT

How to Rate

To rate someone's team you should be looking for any flaws or holes the team has and work to repair them. Do not rebuild the team for them, you should not make too many changes, just a few.

Here are the steps to follow:

1) Identify the threat:

Find a pokemon or strategy that the team has no answer to.

2) Explain the threat:

Explain why this is a threat. For instance if a team has no resistances to water you could tell them that they are weak to Suicune.

3) Provide a Solution:

Give a way to stop this threat. This could be changing one move or an entire pokemon. You should suggest what to replace, and if its a new pokemon give the complete set.

4) Explain how it helps:

Going back to the Starmie/Suicune example, you could suggest Blissey, but that would not be enough. You must tell them how Blissey is able to stop Starmie or Suicune.

[collapse=Chill's old Guidelines]I was going to make one of these sooner or later but Zook helped me to see it needs to be sooner.

There have been a lot of RMTs( Rate my team) posted lately. This is great as that means more people are playing the game and getting into the battling aspect. Unfortunately many have been posting teams with little to no effort involved in them.

I really do not want to start closing topics and handing out infractions. But if topics continue to border the definition of spam I will have to. It makes the room irritating to read and look like crap.

Here are some rules and guidlines to make the whole process go smoothly for everyone.

Rule #1: Do not post a team with missing information. This means do not post a team of just 5 pokemon or a team of 7 pokemon. You need to narrow them down to what you want to use. It's okay if you don't know some of the aspect of your pokemon but if your team is riddled with question marks you need to do more research before asking for help. I don't want to see something like this,

Charizard, Nature ??? @ ???
Flamethrower
???
???
???

If this is the case you are asking for others to build your team for you. If they wanted to do that they would make their own.

Rule #2 : Tell us about your team. Post why you have a pokemon on your team and what functions it performs. It's especially important that you tells us which of your pokemon is used to start the match.

Rule #3 :Spelling, grammar and format. It's very difficult to read a post like this, "i use mew2 cuas hes stron again sutff'. Don't rush your post take your time. Most people will ignore or mock a post that looks like it was typed up by someone in the 2nd grade.

In general your pokemon should look like this,

Pokemon Name @ Hold item
Nature / Ability
EVs
- Move 1
- Move 2
- Move 3
- Move 4

Description placed here.

Some people like to add pictures of each pokemon. This is not necessary but if you like you can do this.

Rule #4: This is for the raters. If someone post a team that needs help offer constructive criticism or do not post at all. If someone post a team comprised entirely of water pokemon there's a right way and a wrong way to adress this.

Wrong way: 'lol you suck a thunderbolt 6-0 your team you n00b!

Right way: "Your entire team is weak to a single element, you need more type diversity".

Ok, there's really no excuse for someone posting a team like that but you get the point. And if anyone has rated a team around here you know that we often see teams with large ice weaknesses or something similar.

For a good example of how to make your RMT, refer to this team from Smogonhttp://www.smogon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53662.

That's all for now. PM me if you think something may need to be added or explained.[/collapse]
