Okay, hopefully I caught the New Mexicans' attention.

What I want to do is describe my own desires, as well as a collective goal that everyone in New Mexico can share.

I believe it is pretty obvious that NM wasn't really involved in the competitive scene in Melee and certainly not Smash. Oh, sure, we had large tournaments, eventually monthly smashfests, and good players, but honestly that wasn't until the last year of Smash, and we hardly ever went out of state.

I can only think of two, perhaps three times, New Mexicans traveled out of state for competitive Smash. This is sad. The community of Super Smash Brothers hardly knew of our existence. I strive to change that.

My personal desire is to be accepted nation wide as the best Brawl player in the country, or at the very least the best Wolf player. Those are my own personal goals. However, I think New Mexican should have a goal, that our community should have a goal:

Let's get ourselves on the radar and then blow the mother ****er sky high.

Seriously, let's get our name out and rock the Smash world. Show them that there are talented smashers here, show people that they do want to watch and learn from our videos, that we can be pros, and that we can rock their socks.

In order to do this, I believe vital planning is needed. Advanced planning of tournament attendance, funds, transportation, the works. If we want to show the world what we can do, we can't let the world come to us. We have to go out there and do the job ourselves. With this being said, I believe we need to start planning for our first out of state tournament already.

I think this is a good place to start, but please, contribute whatever you may think or know. Thank you.

Discuss.

I agree with you Kash. I would love to travel OOS and meet and play more people. And there might be a small chance I can go OOS this summer (my parents would love me to get out of the house this summer).

But yeah I at least think some of us should go to some OOS tournaments. Get NM known thoroguht the US.

Also, does anyone know when school starts for the 08-09 school year? I would love to go to EVO which is August 8-10. Just thorwing that out there.

School used to always start August 16th. I know this because it is my birthday so I would always have my birthday on the first day of school. However, they cut summer break shorter and just put more breaks into the school year, so I believe school starts August 14, now. I think we could make EVO. I don't really know where to find good tournament information.

Well, there are only, if I'm correct, 4 competitive players in NM who have been to more than one OOS tournament: myself, Sinz, ArcticDrac, and Yukitanunki

But I agree with you. But I also believe that NM is really lazy when it comes to planning OOS tournament attendance. I plan to go to OOS tournaments this summer regardless if any of you go with me or not.

We NEED to plan ahead and somebody needs to take charge.

That is exactly what I am trying to do here.

Here's several tournaments to consider.

AzOneTwoStep, Pheonix AZ, June 14th-15th: http://smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=163146

FC, Indianapolis IN, July 10th-13th: http://smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=163146

Evo2k8, Las Vegas NV, August 8-10th

And then of course there's the Supercon May 22-25. If we go to all of these, that makes one large-scale tournament per month. Not bad.
I looked at the AzOneTwoStep tournament and that looks GREAT. Not to mention Forward and some other big name titles should be there, so we could easily put ourselves on the radar. I think we should definitely look into this one.

As for the FC tournament, I was talking to Smashmac about that yesterday. Him, KeepSpeedN, and DaShizWiz (him and his bros, basically) are going to be there. However, I wasn't sure if it was just a Melee or Brawl touranment and Indianapolis is a rather long drive, but a more expensive airplane ride. I would love to go, but I'll leave it up to everyone else.

And lastly, EVO looks awesome as well. If we could attend SuperCon, FC, AZ, and EVO that would be absolutely terrific, but that is a lot of money and one tournament every month. I think it is possible under one condition. We win.

If we go to SuperCon and we win, we could put some money toward Az's tournament. If we place high there and win some money, the trip should pay itself off, almost pay itself off, or pay itself off and then some. That would easily allow us to go to another tournament.

FOR ALL OF YOU WHO ARE TRULY DEDICATED TO MAKING A NAME FOR YOURSELF IN THE SMASH COMMUNITY, HERE HERE!!! *cheers*

We can do this guys, but it is going to take a lot of practice and determination. Are you up to it, NM? I know I am.

Also, find GOOD players to play online with it helps alot.

EDIT: Kosuke get out of here. This is a super secret NM only meeting...

Hrm... I don't see why this deserves its own thread outside the normal NM thread.

...better make it good...
He is trying to make a statement... I guess.

But overall he is just trying to get things organized I guess. Back to the NM thread personally.

COMBO VIDEOS DON'T EXIST.

Nice to see *closes window*

Yea, never mind. (NM, lol!)

Just go and use the New Mexico thread. You can copy-paste your first post into there if you feel like it. (I'm not sure how to do that myself yet without merging the whole thread... I'll figure it out.)
