new melee characters

just thinking here... but if they have models already made in the trophies section, why can't we make them playable characters in melee like they have all those extras in PM?

They wouldn't be able to move; they have no animations. And animation files for existing characters are still not understood.

hmmmm... how did they do it in PM? what if you take the skeleton of an exiting character and put the new models on top of it?

PM's base, what it's built from, is Brawl, not Melee. Much of Brawl is designed a different way than Melee. It had a lot more people working on reverse engineering it for a while and became much more understood (I think it's simpler too for some reason, from what I've heard), so people figured out how to create new animations.

Yeah, that's possible. That's what zankyou has been working on here and here.
