oh boy... sorry to say this, but you probably are no expert at marth (especially if you're looking for a guide). UMBC is making a guide right now, and there's already a guide stickied on the board

anyway, hello and welcome.

If you don't know how to apply anything, how can you call yourself an expert? Really, so much of Marth's aerials are so straightforward that it isn't until you reach the higher levels of play that there's situations where a certain aerial might be useful that doesn't seem like the usual.

And how the hell do you Waveshine with Marth? I don't remember Marth having a broken Down+B.

You will never learn how to apply them right until you find competition out there. There has to be some tournament close by to you that you can go out and play ppl who have been in the competative smash scene for at least a year. Also watch some vids on youtube and study how the pros like ken, kizzu, m2k, etc play marth. The only way to get better is to get pwned first.

All true. Watch videos of the good players. You def can't claim to be any kinda expert if you need to be shown how to do things in certain situations.

Please, don't compare Kizzu to players like Ken or M2K. No offense towards Kizzu, but he's not even close to being at that level of play. He is, however, a good stepping stone for lower level players as far as watching videos go, as new players should not try and study/imitate pro players. You have to work up to watching higher levels of play, as you just won't understand it the same way if you are not a good player already.

Lol... When you can hit, hit. When you can't hit, don't get hit and find ways to hit! Then how to achieve that is mindgames. Ta-da~~~~~~

Yelsew, you should watch a few Kizzu and Ken videos to learn some nasty combos and how to get a person into them and watch Ken and M2k videos as a basis for movement and mindgames.

Well, I know when I was first learning marth that I watched all of Ken's stuff. You shouldn't limit yourself to steps like that. Sure, I didn't understand half the stuff that was going on but thats why you keep watching videos. Always try to take a few things from every single video you watch. What gets punished, what works, and technical stuff. I can watch old videos and still learn new things because everytime I go back to them I'm at a higher level of play and I notice things that I've never noticed before.

I would love to see kizzu vs ken. People who say kizzu isn't at the same lvl as ken...ummm...are blind or something. i would say kizzu has more mindgames and combos than ken. Oh and i forgot to add, TECH SKILLS.

Kizzu IS at the same level as ken if not better...from what i've seen he has more tech skills, mind games, and combos.

Edgeswipe, you are BADLY mistaken if you say kizzu is at the same level as ken.

Don't double post either

Cactuar is a very respected and knowledgable member of these boards, you just got here.

Think for a moment on who would be right.

kizzu is flashier and shows off his combos more, but is by no means a better marth player than ken. Plus most people have only seen kizzu's marth from his combo vids, where as people typically judge ken on his regular matches.

Although I'm a fan of Kizzu's insane comboing, Randizzle and TheBlueDeath are right. He, Kizzu, is not up to par with ken by nop means. What he does just looks pretty. But he does possess a high level of combo skill don't get me wrong.

Kizzu is a very good player and is very flashy. However, he doesnt have near as good DI as ken. Also kizzu leaves himself volnurable many times and can be punished if playing the right player. Dont get me wrong though. Kizzu is one of the best from brazil and is way better than me.

I judge Kizzu from the actual match videos I've seen from him. Combo vids don't mean anything, especially when they highlight your opponent's crappy/lack of DI. He's not a bad player, I just wouldn't consider him a tournament threat to any of our pro/semi-pro players.

LMAO at this thread.

Newer players often admire people who made good combo videos. Just because someone made a good combo video doesn't mean that they can be compared with a player like Ken or M2K. Combo videos showcase only what someone is doing right in a match. A video of an actual match will show both what they are doing right, and what they are doing wrong. Also, combos in videos because of lack of di happen because not everyone that you play against will di right in every circumstance. Otherwise, they'd be winning tournaments too...

i didn't make that comment just looking at some combo videos :\ . I've seen him play actual matches. Regardless of the combo video he still is an exellent player... and by the way... how can you guys judge him like that when he has never actually played ken.

999 posts...

we aren't saying kizzu isn't good but you've really got to get a sense of competitive play and the skill level of the other players...

All pros aren't equal and a combo video is mostly the reason people like him so eh..

his actual matches are okay but when it comes down to it, hes by far, lesser than ken.

MOVEMENT!!!!!! Look at Ken's movement. He creates openings and exploits them well. I've seen some of Kizzu's matches and he is on the offensive too much. Even with Ken's more relaxed Marth, he is capable of the same combos as Kizzu and has performed them , you just have to watch the right vids. Besides, in Kizzu's matches he just wins do to his lack of evasion where as Ken does not.

Yooo \o/

Please, really, stop comparing me with Ken, or any other Marth Player.
This doesn't matter!
Really!

If you can learn something from me or Ken, why do you compare us?
We don't even played each other! xD~
Also I don't wanna be the best Marth, or anything like that. I just like to play Smash... xD~

I respect Ken so much, since almost all things I've learned about was due his Marth.
I just don't want my nickname as a one thing for the people use to flame him =/

(Sorry if my english isn't so clear or anything that I said. >_<". I'm a english nub~ XD~)

Yeah, I feel so childish now about that petty argument. It's like the teacher had to come to break up a stupid elementary school fight but, anyway as to what Kizzu said, to come to some small argue to end a ridiculous comparison out of respect for the other party was very honorable. The actual knowledge which can be gained through vids is more important than the source. Oh, and Kizzu, please continue to make combo vids because I can only watch so many serious matches, sometimes I just wanna see someone get ripped just out of hope that I can one day do the same. You bring hope to the many average Marth players out there, such as myself, the hope that with practice and determination I can one day land an eight hit combo ending in a spike.

And now I'm tired from writing and thinking so I'm gonna go watch some paint dry or water evaporate or something.
