I hate to rehash hold posts is someone's already tried this, but I recently e-mailed Nintendo and asked them about who really owns the rights to Geno.
My Original E-mail:
Hi there. I just have a question about a specific character in the Mario Universe. It concerns Geno from Super Mario RPG on the SNES. I was just wondering if he is now officially owned by Nintendo or if Square-Enix still has the rights to him. Any information you can provide would be greatly apprecitated. Thanks.
Nintendo's Response:
Hello and thank you for contacting Nintendo,
I'm afraid I don't have a definite answer for your question. We try to use e-mail primarily to gather feedback about our products and services. We also provide brief answers to critical questions or try to let our fans know when they can find the answers they're looking for on our web site. Unfortunately, we're not equipped to track down the official response you would like to your question.
Sincerely,
Nintendo of America Inc.
Sharon Matheny
What do you people think? There are only two reasons I can see that they gave me such a vague response:
1) The person who replied to my e-mail really didn't know who owns him.
2) Nintendo has recently purchased/is in the process of purchasing the rights to Geno and they don't want anyone to know about it due to the fact they want to confirm him for Brawl at a later date.
And just for the record: No, I'm not a Geno fan-boy. I just wanted to get to the bottom of this.
