Smash 3DS New Icons Apparently Found Within the 3DS Coding

The problem with Ice Climbers is that the second Climber had their own AI and having four Ice Climbers in a match would be too intensive for the 3DS (or something along these lines). You could instead control all three Chorus Kids (not Chorus Men, check their trophy in Smash 4) at the same time, without the need for two of them to be controlled by AI, if they are to be playable. I can think of a few different scenarios in which The Chorus Kids would work on the 3DS version, even though the Ice Climbers don't.

That is interesting, but without a source, there still is no reason to believe the icons were truly datamined from Smash 3DS.

I'm not sure on the specifics but isn't there more to the technical limitations than that? For example, having 4 Chorus Kids on a busy stage would mean that 12 models are on the screen trying to run at 60 FPS. Pair that with a number of items and explosions going on, and I imagine the 3DS would still lag even without the AI issue.

It's fun to speculate what these could mean (if real) but datamined files don't necessarily mean anything. Datamining MvC3 revealed files for Doc Ock and the Human Torch. We know Torch was scrapped and replaced with Skrull because of hardware limitations, but I don't think we ever found out the official story behind Doc. As has been mentioned in here already they really could just be leftover resources.

There's W101 music on the SMG stage. Makes me doubtful there's a stage, but it's possible these logos, if real, are just for music. There's confirmed Nintendo Land music in SSBU, along with the W101 track and the old GS track.

Still very doubtful this is real.

Just like the ones in the picture aside from the Ice Climber symbol, that is custom-made.


As for the picture, we got the texture files back in September, and no such symbols were present.

I don't mean to burst bubbles, but really, the game has been datamined already, if the above emblems are real they would have been found at around the same time every other graphic ingame was found and uploaded everywhere, this is especially so because of course they would be in the same spot in the rom if they were there at all, and people would be in an uproar about it.

This, and the fact that there is no semblance of source implies this is pretty very likely fake.

The Nintendo Land icon looks like a bad photoshop to me, the bowtie and plug are easy enough to fake (and the bowtie is piggybacking on a fake leak), the IC's logo appears to be from Melee, and then the GS and W101 logos are just the same old logos from the original games.

I can't think of one reason to believe this is true, especially since there were dummy icons with the character icons in the files.

If this leak is real (which, as i've said, I think it's not) then it could possibly confirm Gematsu tho. It makes you wonder why they didn't choose a different icon for Rhythm Heaven, but then again I wish DK, G&W, Fire Emblem and Megaman got different icons. DK could've gotten a barrel or banana (rather than just his initials, but I guess the DK DOES appear on the barrels), G&W just the bell or something to represent him (not just the icon being himself), Fire Emblem could've gotten the Shield of Seals (unless the sword is a specific sword belinging to someone) and Megaman could've gotten his helmet (all the other third parties got their face as the logo).

That last icon doesn't look like a Rhythm Tengoku icon... Why a bowtie can represent the Rhythm Tengoku universe? Yeah, that means that the Chorus Men can be playable or was playable, but why bowtie? Why not other thing, like the Rhythm Tengoku logo, or a music note, or other thing that can represent the Rhythm Tengoku universe? I just don't know...

Actually, Ice Climbers are definitely on the game ... kinda:
In the Smash Bros. Wii U 53 Fact Extravaganza they showed in Spain, when they showed the new and returning stages, in the part where they showed the Temple from Melee, instead of "Temple", they put "La Cúspide", which is "The Summit" spanish name, the Ice Climbers's stage from Brawl

On topic, I'm not convinced that this is certainly real. I would be blown away if it was, as Isaac is pretty much the only character not in that I'm desperate for. Even if it is real, they're probably just for stages. But only time wil tell.

If I may add one more point to the "it's fake" bucket: from my experience, when you have a texture like that, and you want to tint it red, green, etc., you're better off having the initial texture start white. That way, you can just multiply the texture's colors with the final color to get the final color right away. This would be a LOT trickier with gray.

It's still entirely possible that those were educated guesses. A lot of them were very popular characters (and I'm glad NIntendo put them in). I'm just saying: Gematsu is not confirmed. We do not know with 100% certainty. People forget that that's what "confirmed" really means.

Wii Fit Trainer WAS a big surprise. Villager (known as animal crosser on many fan rosters) was a pretty highly-requested character.
