I was messing around with ice climbers and did this. Anyways. here it is

it appears this is caused by "the force" pulling Nana slightly forward during initial dash. She ends up sliding off the platform a frame early, causing her to act on inputs airborne that Popo received while still in the initial dash state (and therefore ignored).

It works with a bunch of other actions as well:

Ice Block
Blizzard
C-sticked aerials
A/Z attacks (cause Popo to dash attack/grab while Nana aerials)
Fastfall
Double jump

It only works during initial dash (not after you enter the run animation) and is a 1-frame window

It's super simple. Dash>Return stick to neutral>B.
Popo has to be coming off of the platform while Nana is still standing on it. (You can also do this same thing in the opposite direction with a pivot)

Nice find! I looked into it a bit; it appears this is caused by "the force" pulling Nana slightly forward during initial dash. She ends up sliding off the platform a frame early, causing her to act on inputs airborne that Popo received while still in the initial dash state (and therefore ignored).
