New/Final build to be shown at PAX closed media session?

"Headed to PAX! I don't know when exactly it is, but I can confirm that Nintendo is holding a closed media event for Smash 3DS with a new (final?) build of the game, and both Andre and I will be attending for GameXplain. I'll bring you all the news and impressions I'm legally allowed to here (depending on NDAs) and we'll of course be recording discussions if we're allowed, so stay tuned!"

So we might see/ hear of the final mechanics/speed/etc. of the game.

Nice. This makes the idea of the event being of significance even more. We might actually get a newcomer video. Hope its someone we havent seen rather than the ones from the leak.
Still don't believe that's the whole roster. Ice climbers can't be gone.

Also, this likely explains the 3DS Nintendo Direct for Japan tomorrow. They'll be getting the info the west will be getting at the press release. Either way, it should be exciting to hear what's revealed since it won't JUST be smash but potentially some new games and new features there as well.

It might be. Since the leak's come out and he already said were near the bottom of the barrel for newcomer videos, he might just let them fly. I just hope Ice Climbers are in and that wasn't the full roster. Others will just be a bonus.

It's doubtful. Despite the leak being really common knowledge around here, there's still going to be a lot of people that missed it. It's in their best interest to continue like usual. Also, a full roster leak would ruin any intended secret unlocks like how Wolf was a secret until Brawl's release.

I'd imagine they'd show the starting roster, and formally announce any character currently missing from it.

Leak or no leak, I doubt they'd show the whole roster before the game's released.

I hope so! Though honestly, if it looks anything like the UK one, I'd be tempted to just go out and buy a black XL and slap a smash logo sticker on it.

Did Gamexplain actually confirm it was embargo'd or are people assuming that from the fact that there's just not a video yet. If so, I'm wondering how long that embargo is for. It might only be until the end of the weekend. Otherwise, there's very little reason to hold a media event if you're not doing it to allow people to report more info. Also, you'd think you'd at least get more people saying that they're not allowed to talk about it.

Like I said in the second half, I wonder how long the Embargo is then. If there's not a release time on the embargo, then there's no point to have a private press event to begin with. So, I'm guessing the embargo is until the end of the weekend. So, maybe we should be checking back on Sunday.

Also, a press embargo insinuates that there's something REALLY worth mentioning that was showed off. So, that's pretty exciting. I wonder what they showed.

True. It's just that embargos wait until major events or announcements, and I can't think of anything that would happen inbetween then and the end of PAX. So, if it's not by the end of this weekend, the only other thing I could think of that they'd be waiting for is a Nintendo Direct, and we JUST had one (and I don't remember too many times we got 2 within a month or got a western exclusive one).

I've heard it's the final build of the game, so they'll probably see the full roster. Ergo, why they can't say anything.

It means they have a public announcement that's coming up, but they don't want the media crowding around while they do it. So, they let the media know about it and get a hands-on early so they don't entirely crowd out the public.

There's other reasons for one, but that's the general gist of it. You invite the media early so they have a heads up on something and can be prepared to report on it later.

I'm definitely interested! I hope we don't have to wait until the Japanese release and instead just have to wait until PAX ends, which I think makes more sense.

i don't think it will be the full roster... i don't think anything should be revealed exclusively at PAX.. I'm glad.. but never felt like an e3...

i think it will be game mechanics though.. the direct last night is way faster that the e3
