Neutral Smash Attack?

What if there's a neutral smash attack? Since the Wii U has analog stick buttons you could click the right one to do it fast and to charge it you could hold it to charge it. What do you think?

would rather have that then the standard combo being done by holding down A.

that just seemed odd to me.

That strikes me as extremely unintuitive. Clicking the control stick is more of a button push than a direction; the way you describe it would make it just that... Holding the click down to charge is completely different than holding down the attack button in a smash.

If it would be used, a neutral smash input would be the last thing I'd make it, especially since if would be easy to accidentally activate Mid-match.

push-clicking a control stick is very awkward if not implemented in a game well

The second you bring up holding it down to charge an attack, that raises a red flag
Using it for a multidirectional command/attack, is another massive red flag.

Verdict: This should be strictly optional. Let people map smash attack to the push-click in the options if they want to.

Also, 3DS version. *cough*

Yeah I haven't figured out what to do about the 3DS and honestly, you don't know if the Wii Mote and Classic Controllers will even be compatible. Seriously. It might just be the Pro Controller and Gamepad. We don't know for sure what the controllers or even the controls will be like.

I expect them to be compatible, just like the GC controller was compatible with brawl.

I expect to be as well but really at this point nothing is set in stone, the only things we know are there's a new Smash game, and it's gonna have the original 12 characters in it (and honestly we don't even know that for sure.) Heck Sakurai might go crazy on us and make it so that the only way to attack is by drawing the attack on the gamepad.

It was a joke; both characters are from games where drawing your attacks was a major mechanic.

A neutral smash cannot exist. One of the coined attacks in the Super Smash Bros. Series, the smash attack, is done by detecting the collision of the stick at a very swift rate; you "smash" it. Since it's neutral, there is no detection of the smash, so it cant happen. Having something assigned to a neutral button besides the basic jab would be a hot mess in my opinion.

most down smashes are used for neutral smashes and you would be able to preform it on a wii mode or wii mote knunchuck or wii classic controller pro (Not Wiiu classic controller pro)

I read this during the April Fool's joke where they replaced every "Smash" with "Wavedash", and I was like, "Neutral wavedash attack?! How stupid is this guy?!"

I don't think it's a bad idea. I just don't think that they'll mess with the formula by adding something like that.
Idk about everyone else, but I just find clickable analogue sticks to be rather annoying in heated gameplay.
