Nephenee for Brawl! (Well, support, at least)

Ok, the first thing I need to get across is that I know she will not be a playable character. To me it is more of a "How cool would this be!" Her chances are basically zero and I think everyone knows that.

So, this is Nephenee.

Alright, now that that point has been made, these are the reasons she would be a viable characters.

1. She is a popular character from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn. She is probably the second most popular "non-main" character, behind Mia.
2. She stars in a chapter in the recently released (in the US) Fire Emblem game, Radiant Dawn.
3. She is an incredibly good unit in Path of Radiance. Although she starts off weak, she turns into a beast that will kill anything late in the game. One of the best nonmounted lance users in FE history.
4. Again, she is a lance user, and this would give her the potential for an extremely unique moveset (although mine is probably not best since I am writing this at 1:00 AM)
5. A well used minor point: she is female. Imagine that. More females for Brawl!

So she is a support character?!?! How do you make a moveset for a character like her? Well, that is pretty easy. Based of her monster stats in game, and the personality she shows in support convos, you get a pretty good idea of the kind of character she would be. I suppose it's worth noting that I went realistic on the stars, rather than pumping everything to 4 and 5 like I have seen on some topics XD

General stats:

Move Speed: ****

She is a small, light character, so she will get around quickly.

Attack Speed: ***

Since she has a lance/spear, her attacks are going to vary a lot in speed. So, I have her three stars. Some attacks will be very slow and powerful, while others will be weaker and faster.

Power (Damage): ***

For a small girl, she packs some punch. But it will vary between attacks a LOT. So, she gets the average rating.

Power (Knockback) ****

Her main attacks for KOing will have good knockback. Spear would offer that advantage. No Falcon Punch, but some power behind it at least.

Range: ****

It's a LANCE/SPEAR, need I say more?

Recovery: **

She doesn't really have anything special at all to help her recover. So it's very low.

Weight: **

She is a very small character, and as such, she will be light and easy to knock around. She would also fall fairly slowly compared to other characters.

Normal attacks:

Neutral A: Lance Jab
Start Speed: **
Attack Speed: ***
Range: ***
Power: **
Knockback: **

This would look like her basic attack on FE before she promotes. It would not change as it combos. It would basically do the same attack animation over and over again.

Tilt A (side): Upward Swipe
Start Speed: ***
Attack Speed: ***
Range: ***
Power: ***
Knockback: ***

A very good attack for a tilt. She lowers the lance to her feat and quickly raises it as she thrusts. One of her more useful attacks for standard combat.

Down A: Low Jab
Start Speed: ****
Attack Speed: ****
Range: **
Power: **
Knockback: **

She is crouched down, and basically just pokes the lance along the ground toward the character. It is fast, has a little stun too it, sort of like Zelda or Marth down A for an example. Low range, power, and knockback though, so really, it's good for a little quick damage then move away.

Up A: Upward Slash
Start Speed: **
Attack Speed: ***
Range: ****
Power: ***
Knockback: ***

Another all around good attack with superior range. Not really any KO ability, relatively, but it's a good attack. She lowers her lance to one side (depending on direction and slashes it over her head all the way around. On a clock, it would be about 4:00, move counter clockwise to 7:00. Excellent reach, and it's a fast attack.

Dash A: Shove
Start Speed: ****
Attack Speed: **
Range: **
Power: **
Knockback: **

Not really a great attack. While running, she turns her lance horizontally and pushes her opponent with it. It will typically knock opponents over if they are hit mid attack, but not while it's just starting or ending.

Ariel Neutral A: Side Swipes
Start Speed: ***
Attack Speed: *
Range: **/****
Power: ****/***
Knockback: *****/***

This is sort of like her Falcon Punch, actually, if depending on when it hits. First, she swings her lance around in the direction she is facing. This is the strongest part of the attack and will do massive damage and have huge knockback. A great KO move for the air, because it's start up time is not really all that bad at all. Once she has done this, she will swing it around behind her. The damage and knockback are reduced if this is the part of the attack that hits, but it has more range. While she is switching to hit behind her, she does not do any damage and it does take a second or so. It's by far her slowest attack, but if the first part of it hits, it does excellent damage. It does leave her open for attacks while she is switching it out, and can easily be attacked from the other side while she is attacking one side.

Ariel Up A: Upward Jab
Start Speed: ****
Attack Speed: ***
Range: **
Power: **
Knockback: **

Think Links up A in the air, and you have this.

Ariel Down A: Downward Jab
Start Speed: ***
Attack Speed: **
Range: ***
Power: **
Knockback: ****

She basically lays horizontally in the air, and jabs vertically downward. The attack does not have a lot of horizontal range, but the vertical range is good. It counts as a meteor. Could be compared to Falcon's down A in the air.

Ariel Side A: Slash
Start Speed: **
Attack Speed: ***
Range: ***
Power: **
Knockback: ****

All around good attack, and very similar to her tilt on the ground. She lowers the lance and raises it up knocking her opponent away. Not really good for KOing in most cases because it sends them at an angle upwards, so the distance does not do as much good as directly horizontal or vertical.

Smash A (side): Charged Jab
Start Speed: **
Attack Speed: **
Range: ****
Power: ****
Knockback: varies

This attack has very long reach, and is similar to her side tilt, but is chargeable and does not have as much vertical range, but a decent amount more horizontal range. It has more knockback the closer your enemy is just due to the nature of the attack.

Smash A (down): Lance Sweep
Start Speed: ***
Attack Speed: ****
Range: ***
Power: ***
Knockback: varies

Decent reach. Once the actual attack starts, she sweeps her lance on the ground behind her, then in front of her, then back behind her but without the range of the first swing. The forward swing has the most damage and knockback.

Smash A (up): Upward Jab
Start Speed: ****
Attack Speed: ****
Range: ***
Power: ***
Knockback: varies

Think Marth's up A except with a lance. Excluding a charge, there is not much delay at all from start to finish. Least knockback of her smash attacks.

Special Attacks

Neutral B (air and ground): Flame Lance
Start Speed: ***
Attack Speed: ***
Range: ***** (come on, it's a ranged attack)
Power: ***
Knockback: */***** (One hit KO pl0x?)

This one is chargeable. It would have an animation similar to throwing a spear in FE. Basically, she pulls it back and throws it, and on impact it does fire damage as well that sticks for a few seconds and does extra damage. You can hold a max charge as long as you want, but you cannot move or change direction. At full charge, like Ike and Roy, it will be a one hit KO, however, being a one hit KO range attack means the charge time is actually a bit longer than Roy's was. The range for the throw increases up until half charge, where it has it's highest range. After that, it will slowly decrease in range until max charge. Basically, for distance, charge to about half (it would maybe shine for an instant or something) and it will do decent damage with a little knockback, or wait it out and throw at full charge, but it's range will be less than the distance of Fox's illusion.

It can also be thrown quickly by just tapping B and letting go quickly. It does not require a charge of any kind.

Just like FE, she magically reattains the spear she throws.

Note: before I get flamed for this (even though it's hardly serious) the knockback is minimal unless the charge is completely full. I also know she does not "have the flame lance" in game, but it is a weapon in the game, she can use it once you get it, therefore I gave it to her for the sake of the moveset.

Side B (air and ground): Forward Thrust
Start Speed: ****
Attack Speed: ****
Range: **
Power: **
Knockback: ***

On the ground, she does a short jump forward with her lance in both hands, and then stabs in a downward/diagonal direction. The leap is not very far at all. In the air she does the same thing basically except she more or less just pushes herself horizontally to do the attack, and gets a little horizontal distance this way. Somewhat useful for recoveries, due to it's speed.

Up B (air and ground): Upward Thrust
Start Speed: ****
Attack Speed: ***
Range: *
Power: *
Knockback: ***

Similar to Marth's up B but less effective. She gains almost no horizontal distance but decent vertical distance. The move is mostly recovery, although it's not too good for that either. She basically just holds the lance in one hand and springs up. I really am not sure what else could go here, didn't have much of an idea.

Grabs

Grab attack:
She basically just knees the character. Sort of like most sword wielding characters, since their hands are full.

Back Throw:
She tosses her opponent behind her and hits them with the back of her lance into the air, has a little strength behind it, but not much.

Up Throw:
She just tosses her opponent up. Due to her small stature and lack of real strength, there is a stun, but it does not throw them very high. Weakest throw.

Forward Throw:
She tosses her opponent in front of her and slashes with her lance, downward, almost like a sword. Has the best knockback of her throws.

Down Throw:
She pushes her opponent down and jabs. This attack pushes them in front of her and does the most damage of her throws.

Final Smash: Hell Arises

More from the flame lance than Nephenee herself, she takes her lance and stabs it into the ground. Nothing happens for a few seconds. Once the attack starts, huge flames erupt from the ground in random places on the stage, doing huge knockback and huge amounts of damage. Several come up in several places, and while it is happening she just holds her lance in the ground. She pulls it out and the attack stops.

Ok, if I left out a move, let me know. I'll probably be editing this after I post it and while I am more awake, so any typos and stuff (I know they will be there) will be fixed.

Well, her chances aren't the highest.
But if you're gonna have a lance user in brawl, they MUST I repeat MUST have a javelin based attack ;)
EDIT: Not saying i don't like your moveset, I just would like to see a lance user with a Javelin,

Defiantly AT material
AT material, you are more kind than me. Realistically she probably won't even get mention at all, not even a trophy or a sticker

Her neutral B is a "javelin attack" since the flame lance was a thrown weapons. I wasn't really sure how I could give her multiple javelin/throwing attacks without them being the same.

If we have 3 and Marth(I dont think hes coming back, IMO) isnt coming back I hope shes a PC but since she was never on a poll cause her game was still new at the time and she is a non main character her chances are slim to none. At at best, yes but it would be cool for her to be a PC.

Only people that would possibly rep FE as playable are Ike (in), Marth (about 99% sure he is in), Sigurd, and Micaiah. Lyn did not make it as playable, and she was a main character in her game. I doubt a support character would get in.

There is also the unpopularity of the GBA games in Japan, which could be a reason that Lyn only got AT (she had the biggest FE fanbase for Brawl outside of Japan).

I still doubt she even be considered for a sticker.

He is the second most popular FE lord in Japan, only Marth is more popular. If they have three FE Characters, then it will probably be Ike, Sigurd, and Marth. Ike to represent the "now" of Fire Emblem and the other two for the popular lords from the series. Micaiah has little potential, because she would really only be added for advertisement purposes, and that is probably what Ike is there for.

If she is in, I hope she is a fast magic user, the problem I had with Mewtwo and Zelda is both were... slow.

Waiting for you to slip up.
Yeah, Nephenee with the Flame Lance for Brawl!

She's female, not another sword user, and would make somewhat of a Roy-like figure; in which I mean since Roy wasn't important to the story, neither is Nephenee.

Sure, she's more likely to be an AT. She'd still be cool, tho.

Excuse me, since when does being the "Main Character" of his respective Fire Emblem game make him unimportant in it?

Nephenee would make a nice AT, that's about it.

Wow, what a random FE character to support.
I didn't use her in PoR (and I don't even have RD) but I'll give her a bit of support.
I'm still rooting for Ephraim, Sothe, Hector, and Black Knight most of all.

Y'know, I'm trying to incorporate her into my strategies, but I think I'm too late in the game for her to be effective. She barely does any damage and she's such a risk to bring out into any sort of fray. It's been a while since I even played PoR. This thread is totally going to get me back into it (which I somewhat appreciate). I'm going to ask for RD at Christmas from my brother or something... once I beat PoR, that is.

I am one of the biggest Nephenee suppoorters on the site, even though she's got no chance...

You need to post her RD portrait up as soon as you get it.

Who is she anyway?
She a part of Ike's army in PoR. She has potential to be one of the best units in the game, liek, Soren if you invenst exp and time into her she will become a top-tier unit.

She comes from a family of many siblings and IIRC she a farmer thats why she has the southern accent.

She was also in Radiant Dawn, joining Elincia's Crimean army in part 2, and like Chaosblade77 mentioned sort of had her own chapter there (she and Brom were the only two characters to start with, and she was listed as the leader, so...).

I won't have RD until Christmas, and I have not seen a picture or anything from RD. Also, I wonder if her growths are as good in RD as they are in PoR.

That is the main reason she is so popular.

Who turns out good is really up to the game. Nephenee is typically one of the most RNG blessed characters in the game (I have read multiple accounts of her maxing EVERY stat, including luck, and I have always had good experience, maxing 4 stats at least), although there are some people who have a great dislike for her after getting RNG screwed and Devdan/others turning out better.

And Jill sucked for me both times I used her. She got RNG screwed both times. She and Ike are always my best though. Occasionally another character will randomly end up good, but never matches either of them.

And as far as not being a main character... she IS more popular than Ephraim (her only competition as far as lance nonmounted lance users go) XD Although that doesn't mean anything since his game is considered the second worst FE game so far.

I really hope Ephraim gets in over Nephenee.
(Or just at all.)
I just think he'd be a far better Smasher, is all. He's very wise, insanely strong, and brandishes his lance with such finesse and speed... omg I just wet my panties!
I cant change your mind or opinion but i will say that because that FE8 was easy (You could easily boost and max everyone out with the tower and those stat items can be bought) Ehpraim on his own is good, but Nephy on her own is better cause she got the harder game but she got better stats without the easyness.

So if Ephraim's game was ACTUALLY hard then he would have been a good unit but it wasn't so my opinion stands

Nephy in Brawl.
