Need video critique from recent tournament: vs boss and chinesesah

john: first tournament in ages!

Critique harshly..i can see a lot of the errors myself, but yelling will help me remember better

Tell Boss I said wad up, if you talk to him. Boss, Korn and I chilled alot at Pound 3.

Fox:

Your Fox isn't that bad. But your d.i is horrible. You d.i.ed off the edge when he threw you then survival d.i.ed his first bair which led to the second one. You also d.i.ed into his fair on your last stock.

Besides the fact that you need to stop spamming survival d.i. and work on your COMBO D.I., moar drillshine is needed.

Uthrow uair doesn't work too well on Doc, he can get out sometimes. Stick to drillshine-> nair combos or drillshine usmash combos.

Your edge-guarding also needs to improve. Gimp the doc. Get him off the stage and spam invincibility frames by hopping on over and over again. Then just bair or shine him. Easier said than done, but its possible, I promise you.

To start off, your fox is pretty good.

1-drillshine into upsmash. If you can get perfect wavedashes down right, you can waveshine into upsmash.

2-upthrow upair(with DI), get it down right.

3-Better recovery. I saw one of the instances where you firefoxed to the middle of the stage where Boss was where had the ledge wide open. Position/Choose the right recovery, going back to that gimp Boss had on you, that was because your firefox was placed within his reach, you could have also chosen to illusion to catch him offguard.

actually, its impossible to uthrow u-air doc. Its the same with Mario/Luigi. They can time the DJ even at 0 and escape before you hit. You can predict the jump and uair them though.

I had a tournament set with Green Mario in Georgia and we were talking about this.

ya i know that they can get out of the upair; but i didn't know what else to do when i got a grab so i figured go for it and hope they don't dodge and fastfall a nair on me or something. I'll look at the vids and try to think on what you said so i don't do the same things again.

I'm sure they can DJ out of it, but they'd probably still get hit with the upair if you're fast enough, which is worse since they'll be above you with no DJ.

I'm pretty positive you can COMBO in training mode mario/doc, not luigi though. I'll check on this.
