Need help!

I'm not really a noob to Smash 64, but my Classic Mode only lets me play with Mario. I was wondering if their is a way to fix this. Please help, and sorry if I posted this thread in the wrong spot.

I am using a N64. And when I pick a different character, it shows the character and everything, but once I start it, it makes me play as Mario. It also shows Mario in the screen that shows who you're about to fight.

It appears something is wrong with your cartridge. You'll probably want to contact Nintendo about this O_o

have you ever used a gameshark on it?

you could try clearing all the data on the cartridge...

I actually have used a game shark on it, and that was to do the 'play as master hand' glitch.
I will actually try to delete all my data. Maybe in an hour or so, I'm kinda busy.

Edit: I won't delete my data until I get a reply that states whether or not it has a chance of working.

OK, I'll edit this once I get the chance to delete it.

Edit: It worked! I deleted my data and it lets me play as different characters now.

Same thing happens to my cartridge. Its a common glitch.

Gamshark codes will allow you to use other characters in classic mode

example

cheat = ''Classic mode only falcon selectable''

something like that. Its how me and superboom recorded our video where he plays as all the computer characters in classic mode vs my captain falcon, we had to gameshark it so he could control the CPU and so I could be falcon since my cartridge only lets me be mario.
