Need help with Short hop bair + fair

Hello, I'm having real trouble getting Marth to consistently get a short hop bair and then a fair before falling. I usually end up just wavelanding the back air, but I sometimes get the fair off before landing. I try to bair as soon as I jump everytime, but sometimes I get it, sometimes I don't. Is there any tricks to know when to fair after the bair? And how tight of a window is it really?

Not really any "tricks" I can tell you, nor do I think telling you esoteric frame data will be helpful. Just a feel sorta thing. It's not too tight.

I get the impression you're probably using the A button?

All I can really say is you should probably try practicing the SH bair->fair WITHOUT L-canceling, and THEN try to implement that after you get the timing. Just try SH bair'ing, then mash the fair repeatedly . If you mash fast enough it'll come out, and it'll help you understand the timing (you don't have to mash but it'll help you at least get it out and see what the timing is). Or, you can watch videos and look for where people are doing the bair->fair, and maybe the visual+audio cue and help you understand and memorize it.

I had the same problem for a bit. It helps me when I do the first aerial with the A button and the second with the c-stick.
