Okay men, I'm about to embark on an epic combo video that showcases the timeline of the competitive smash scene. However, I need one important thing: the actual timeline of tournaments.

In short, I need to be filled in. What big tourny came first? What came next? After that?

If I can get some sort of collaboration of what happened and when, I can begin to browse through them and pick out the good matches/combos for my video.

Thanks in advance to everyone!

OC2 is the earliest smash tournament I remember. I would say try and get in touch with Chillin, Neo. M2k. Isai? Much older players.

Is the video just going to be clips of the best moments of every tourney? And show how the metagame has increased? I like :)

lol @ OC2 *sigh*

I would say the earliest tourney(at least a well known one)is TG1

I'd also throw in the BIN series but they were only big in the Northeast

Pretty much that exactly. Hopefully someone will wander through and gimme some sort of list, otherwise it's gonna be a lot of searching...

The one thread I posted has an article telling all about Ken Hoangs history. I'm sure you can pull some stuff from that.

okay, so, quick question: should i begin the video with the reign of ken, before moving on from person to person in a passing-the-torch sort of way?

EDIT: Also, I will give a cookie to whoever can find me the earliest recording of a ken combo in a tourny

Who would be "Getting the torch"? M2K? Mango? DrPeePee?
You need Isai in there too :D
that's the tough part, and this is where I especially need input from the community

my only understanding would be ken > m2k > mango > drpp, but I know there's more than just that. Isai certainly fits in there somewhere, and there are so many other players like pc chris and hungrybox that deserve their own moments of glory.

In short, everybody brainstorm. There is no wrong answer, only helpful advice

pc chris, dashizwiz, forward, bob$ you should write down every character and find 3-4 players who demonstrate that characters ability.

One thing I can't stress enough is to not use overused clips. I must see the same clips in every video nowadays and it sucks.
