Need help for choosing a character for Mario

Hi everyone,

I wanted to become a Mario specialist. What I mean by that is that I want to main Mario in every Smash game, since he's my favorite character in the entire Smash series. Through every main game, I chose an ally that can help my Mario along his Smash journey (I consideras my main avatar in Smash if this series is considered as an RPG XD). In 64, it was. In Melee and Brawl, it was . However, in Smash 4, I decided to pick , but I wanted to pick an another character (but I would consider this character as a competitive secondary). So I want to ask you guys this question. Which character do you think can cover Mario and Roy's weaknesses? I leave a list of characters that I like to enjoy competitively :

Meta Knight is pretty good in the game, he just has a stick and needs to go in. I think he can cover some matchups pretty well, and he's fun to play. Try him out.

Well, I love , but it's just that I don't think he's the right character for countering Mario's weaknesses. Basically, I'm looking for a list of characters that can fix Mario's main issues which are :

• Great disjointed moves or long range moves (zoning or spacing), due to Mario's poor range
  
• Good frontal approach (no frontal approach for Mario)
  
• Good KO setups to finish stocks (has trouble finding kill setups)
  
• Great recovery (not predictable, not gimpable like recoveries with no hitboxes and not poor-distance), due to Mario's recovery being sub-par and predictable

Can you list all the characters that fixes all of these issues? You can suggest me any character, even . I'll still try them out, but I don't think that Sheik and Rosalina fixes every issues that Mario has anyway. Sheik has trouble finding KO setups while Rosalina has a gimpable recovery. I don't know for ZSS.

Main the Green Linguini if you want a Mario Bro that covers the combo/grab game and recovery potential for experience players.

His projectiles are superior in baiting/approaching compared to Mario's fireballs.

I don't want to main Luigi. His weaknesses are WAY TOO OBVIOUS and easy to exploit. Plus, I don't think Luigi covers all Mario's weaknesses pretty well (due to poor range and predictable recovery options).

covers pretty much all imo. She has a great recovery when used correctly, has NO trouble finding kill setups, I'm not sure on the approach but in the netural you don't reaaaally have to approach, and can zone out and space well.

But is still good to cover Mario's weaknesses? I played ZSS a bit, and she's already boring to me. I lost interest on maining this character already.

I find her reward of grabs to be kinda cheap. I don't really like her playstyle and she's so awkward to control. Also, I need so much concentration when playing with her, because just like Melee Fox, she has to play perfectly, since every move she uses, there must be a purpose behind it. I don't like these type of characters, since so much thinking to do due to her punishable moves.

I say go with your gut. What I mean by this is, just play the character you enjoy the most. If you just want to win, then play whoever you win with the most. But my opinion is play whoever you enjoy, because you will be able to play the game for longer periods of time and will just thoroughly enjoy the game more.

I really have a problem with that, since I enjoy so many characters. I don't know who's even my second favorite character to play after . My candidates are. I feel like these characters are characters that I can enjoy them for a very long time and never get bored. There are some characters that I like but I just get bored after a while such as .

Yeah I have a lot of characters I like to play too, even if I am not great with them. I just decided (Today actually ) to secondary Mario after Yoshi. I picked him because:
1. Mario is my favorite game series.
2. He is fun to play.

That is what I base who I play on is if I like the series and like playing them.

The Super Mario series : . Love but only love them casually. : also played Dr. Mario on Wii Ware
The Mario companions series : . Same case for (only casual).
Starfox series : . for casual play.
Punch Out : (casual play)
Sonic The Hedgehog (second favorite series after Mario) :
Mega Man classic games :
Characters that make me think of anime (because I love animes XD) : (did not play Fire Emblem, F-Zero, Kid Icarus or Xenoblade, but interested in those series)
So I have . Might be difficult to choose but I'll try my best, because I've been struggling for almost a year finding another main for .
