Name entry glitch: Masterhand without AR!

I have been trying this for hours and I just don't understand any directions on the internet. I am just doing this to beat 15 minute melee

I have been trying this for hours and I just don't understand any directions on the internet. I am just doing this to beat 15 minute melee

Steps: Be player 3
have no character selected and only 1 name in name entry made
make your yourself active on character select screen but do not select a character
Highlight your character name like you are gonna select a tag.

Press A and then immediately B
continue to hold b
Press A (while still holding b) on the same frame Holding b would make u exit the character select screen

Pressing A the last time will select name entry.
