Yeah Im tired of hearing bits and pieces about adaptorz, which ones work, which ones dont what you need to do etc

So Im creating this topic for discussion of adaptors, where to get them, compare prices, troubleshoot, and all that, since Ive seen a lot of ppl including myself asking questions.

To start, lets have the lucky people with workable n64 adaptors explain their adaptors to us

What kind do you use? How does it work? any problems/solutions?

Include a picture, hell include a video if you want.

Let the discussion begin so more people can get online with the right adaptor, so they can use the right controller. Too many good ssb players are hindered online *cough* me *cough* by either keyboard, or in my case, a Dpad controller from Radioshack.

Keyboard. It's quite comfortable. :p After a LOOOOOOOOOOONG time, even though you can't utilt or SHAUA whenever you want [and if you set it up for that your handicap is missing failing to Up-Smash when you want. <_<].

I hear something about adaptoids > adaptors. Is that for ease of use or it's actually all around better?

i use the boom psx/n64 adapter. u can get it for cheap and it works perfectly for me (well i had to buy another 1 since the 1st 1 f**ked up on day 1 =\). the most common problem most gamers get w/ this adapter is their controllers dont work w/ it or the joystick and buttons spazz out. if i ever get a vid of it ill post it up :).

If I hold a direction, it repeats the input in that direction.
It stands to mention that the included driver disc was not used, since I could not figure out ANY way to get anything resembling the drivers installed off of it. It's running just plug-and-play as a game controller in Windows at the moment. If someone could help me out here, that would be appreciated.

From what it seems, those adapters are good if your lucky to get a good one. I (and appparently Shade) have them and we have problems with the jump button jumping at random points, while you and boom, it seems to work fine.

I'll write a review of my adapters (I have 2 ^.^) some time later (maybe after school) so it can be added to the top. Also, agreed with the sticky :)

Goddamit my stupid new age PC doesnt have a floppy drive. If the drivers are on floppy ill have to find a place to download them BEFORE I order the adaptor online.

If and when I see an adaptoid on ebay im buying it.

My computer doesn't have a floppy drive either and almost every USB device I have received that has came with a floppy, the USB installed the software by itself. I'm sure you won't need to download.

But at least more than half of the people who post here have ones that make the joystick spaz out. I guess ill order that blue one off ebay and hope it works.

Thats only certain controllers that the joystick and buttons freak out as, not all of them.
And often when they do freak out, with that blue one (which I have), plugging/re-plugging/restarting can often fix the problem. Unfortunately, I still haven't figured out how to make the joystick react more like a real N64 joystick, so I still mess up tilts in emulator all the time and end up jumping a lot.

Try using N-rage's plugin, although fixing deadzone and stick range (as well as calibrating it beforehand) are relatively simple.
Frankly, I've been playing a lot more N64 recently and I love how it plays in the N64. Need capture card to capture vidoes :psycho:

I got the monster gamin n64/psx, and yes its the one that spazzes with older n64 controllers. Remedied easily by buying one of the clear glacier style n64 controllers if you can find them.

Cartman told me a trick about using a ps2 controller when setting up a n64 controller that spazzes tho. >.> something about using the joysticks and switching the mode.
