My touchpad stopped working

My Synaptics TouchPad V5.9 (on PS\2 port) stopped working 2 days ago. Plugging in a USB mouse still works, though. The weird thing is that the Device Manager still says that the TouchPad is working. I've tried updating/reinstalling the driver but that didn't fix the problem. Any ideas what else I should try?

How old is it. It may have just worn out. Touch screens do that after a few years of use.

The Touch Pad is probably just worn out, they can't hold out forever. You should probably just stick with a Mouse, since Mouses are easier to use (In My Opinion) anyways. If you REALLY want to use a Touch Pad, I think the only way is getting a new Laptop, since I don't think there's a way to replace Touch Pads without breaking the machine.
