So, those of you that pay attention know that I am in the middle of writing a fiction series. The series is tentatively titled "Midnight". Something along those lines.

I was very excited yesterday and I wanted to tell you all. My series explores philosophy, mainly ethics and the true nature of good vs evil, the apocalypse (hence the title), free will and other subjects. The series is expected to be five books long.

What I was excited about was that I actually composed the ending and far beginning to the story (the secret past). This is a big development for me personally, and I wanted to share with everyone else. I'm very proud of my work.

*pssst!*

Don't show it to Jam or he'll tear it into tiny pieces and dance on its remains!

I would know. I'm writing a book series too. Btw, I did rewrite the beginning Jam.

I'm pretty sure I told you not to do that.

No re-writes until you finish the first draft. In fact, don't even show it to anyone until you finish the first draft.

Ugh. I've rerererevised the first book so many times. Technically, I've finished it before: threw out the whole thing and just lol'd. Writing a book, Lordofthemorning? When do you expect to have yours done?

As a practising writer, I know that feeling when you end up writing things that tie in so very well in the long run, be it imagery, character or theme.

You deserve to be flippin' happy already. :)

I respect people that have the talent and patience to write a novel (I know I could never do it)
It must be tough, but I'm sure it's worth it in the end.

Keep it up, I'm sure it will turn out great :)

Can you explain again why should I write out the whole thing before editing a little? Is there really any right way to write a book?
Because when you stop to edit once, you do it again and again, and you fall into the editing trap. Your first goal is to finish, whether it's a 2,000 word story or a 200,000 word novel. Editing and re-writing is its own part of the writing process, and it comes after you write. Stephen King explains it better in his book On Writing (which I'm currently reading), and I strongly recommend that you obtain a copy of that book.

As for the right way to write a book...no, there's no "right way", per se, but there are definitely ways of writing that will lead you to greater success than others.

Yeah, until now, I had a bunch of ideas I knew would tie in together somehow, I had the big picture. But a couple days ago, everything tied together perfectly, like a puzzle, and it was definitely a rewarding feeling, which is why I write. Thanks.

Thank you. I've spent nearly seven years planning and revising all five. Soon they'll be written straight though.
