With the release of Shoddy Battle (a beta D/P emulator), I've been testing various teams and Pokemon out. One day, while I was talking to some friends online, one of them was saying that he bred a Shellos with Mirror Coat and Counter. I thought the combination was interesting, and tried it out for myself. After several battles, I saw its potential, and made a whole team team with it in it.

Gastrodon @ Leftovers
Sticky Hold
Bold Nature ( - Defense, + Attack )
252 Defense / 252 Sp Defense / 4 HP
- Recover
- Ice Beam
- Counter
- Mirror Coat

This is the star of my team, as well as my lead. If I believe that the Poke first sent out is a threat, I'll use Recover to scout out its move. If damage is around 50%, I'll Counter/Mirror Coat it for an easy kill. Ice Beam is there for opponents who realize my strategy, so I can attack without first being attacked. Gastrodon gets owned by Celebi/Breloom/anything packing a grass move. I'll always switch out against those.

Gengar @ Focus Sash
Levitate
Timid Nature ( + Speed, - Attack)
252 Speed / 252 Sp Attack / 4 HP
- Energy Ball
- Destiny Bond
- Shadow Ball
- Psychic

I can;'t really consider Gengar my Special Sweeper. Its there to just to pick off certain Pokes . Energy Ball is for Swampert/Gastrodon, Shadow Ball is for Psychics, and Psychic is for that ***** Breloom. Destiny Bond helps me take out CM Blisseys.

Garchomp @ Choice Scarf
Sand Veil
Adamant Nature ( + Attack, - Sp Attack )
252 Attack / 224 Speed / 32 Defense
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Fire Fang
- Brick Break

Here's probably my second favorite Poke on the team. 224 Speed gives it one extra Speed point than ScarfCross. Cross can't OHKO Chomp, but a Fire Fang OHKOs Cross. Brick Break is there for Fat Eggs not packing Ice Beam, Outrage is there for other Dragons, and Earthquake because its cool (and Lucario).

Skarmory @ Leftovers
Sturdy
Bold Nature ( + Defense, - Attack)
252 Defense / 252 Sp Defense / 4 HP
- Spikes
- Roost
- Stealth Rock
- Whirlwind

As much as I wanted to stop being like everyone else and not use Skarm, it was still the best option for my team. I like to switch in on Outrage Chomp, and lay some Spikes down. Same thing for CM Blisseys. Magnezone is one threat, but its not something I'm seeing alot of. I'll put Shed Shell on if that changes.

Blissey @ Leftovers
Natural Cure
Bold Nature ( + Defense, - Attack )
252 Defense / 252 Sp Defense
- Aromatherapy
- Softboiled
- Seismic Toss
- Thunder Wave

Lawlz, I'm using this fat *****. Everyone should already know what it does.

Starmie @ Leftovers
Natural Cure
Modest Nature ( + Special Attack, - Attack)
252 Speed / 252 Sp Attack
- Thunder Bolt
- Ice Beam
- Recover
- Rapid Spin

I hate Spikes with a passion. Rapid Spin takes care of those. I put Thunder Bolt on Starmie rather than Gengar because Waterfall Gyarados won't hurt Starmie as much, and either force it to switch out or stay in and die. Ice Beam takes care of whatever, and Recover keeps it alive.

So, thats my new team. Any criticism is welcome :)

good job i say, you put in some interesting pokes and some interesting movesets (granting you're using the typical bliss and skarmory, but they work).

the team does seem kinda specialized, you put in a few moves and mentioned that a lot of them were specifically for trumping certain pokes, which can be good or bad in some ways.

I liked it though, overall i think the whole idea of gastrodon being used is decent. too bad it doesn't have any room for a STAB move. i say 8.5 ish out of 10.

good job overall man. it's nice to see people that know what they're doing =)

Gastrodon @ Leftovers
Sticky Hold
Bold Nature ( - Defense, + Attack ) That's plus Def minus attack, might wanna make this calm
252 Defense / 252 Sp Defense / 4 HP
- Recover
- Ice Beam
- Counter
- Mirror Coat

This is the star of my team, as well as my lead. If I believe that the Poke first sent out is a threat, I'll use Recover to scout out its move. Dies against Choice Scarf Roserades, which is an excellent lead, though underated.

Counter over Psychic

Can't say anything against him cept he came off from the Smogon analysis

Skarmory @ Leftovers
Sturdy
Bold Nature ( + Defense, - Attack)Meh
252 Defense / 252 Sp Defense / 4 HP
- Spikes
- Roost
- Stealth Rock
- Whirlwind

As much as I wanted to stop being like everyone else and not use Skarm, it was still the best option for my team. I like to switch in on Outrage Chomp, and lay some Spikes down. Same thing for CM Blisseys. Magnezone is one threat, but its not something I'm seeing alot of. I'll put Shed Shell on if that changes.
I'd honestly say choose between SR/Spikes, then get rid of the other one for Drill Peck. I think it'd be a surprise if, once 3 layers of spikes down, they expect him to be done only to lay down a SR.

Blissey @ Leftovers
Natural Cure
Bold Nature ( + Defense, - Attack )
252 Defense / 252 Sp Defense
- Aromatherapy
- Softboiled
- Seismic Toss
- Thunder Wave

Lawlz, I'm using this fat *****. Everyone should already know what it does.

Starmie @ Leftovers
Natural Cure
Modest Nature ( + Special Attack, - Attack)
252 Speed / 252 Sp Attack
- Thunder Bolt
- Ice Beam
- Recover
- Rapid Spin

I hate Spikes with a passion. Rapid Spin takes care of those. I put Thunder Bolt on Starmie rather than Gengar because Waterfall Gyarados won't hurt Starmie as much, and either force it to switch out or stay in and die. Ice Beam takes care of whatever, and Recover keeps it alive.
Fine

So, thats my new team. Any criticism is welcome :)
Check Bolded, decent team. I thing a startin Gastrodon should have a Focus Sash with Counter and Mirror Coat, with Min defenses so it could deal some damage with Maxed HP. Just an idea to think about.

You got the nature + and - backwards :). I guess it looks all right, although I don't know much about him.

Counter works on there since you're using Focus Sash. It looks like you're just using Psychic for Breloom, but if you had Thunderbolt you'd have more type coverage.

Don't use Brick Break, because a super-effective one does less damage than a neutral Outrage. Might want Stone Edge there. Fire Fang is only a 3HKO on standard Skarmory, while Fire Blast is a 2HKO, so think about that.

Impish nature and Drill Peck over Spikes or Stealth Rock, to avoid getting shut down by Taunt and getting screwed as the last Pokemon. For EVs, Skarm should have 252 HP/252 Def/4 something. The HP is needed to offset his low but needed base HP, and he is NOT built to be a mixed wall, so you should be switching him for Blissey when a special attack comes, not try to take it with him.

Blissey @ Leftovers
Natural Cure
Bold Nature ( + Defense, - Attack )
252 Defense / 252 Sp Defense
- Aromatherapy
- Softboiled
- Seismic Toss
- Thunder Wave

Lawlz, I'm using this fat *****. Everyone should already know what it does.

Blissey is mad gay, but in standard she doesn't need anymore special defense than she's already got, so it'd be better to put those EVs into HP.

Might want to go Timid so that you can outspeed Jolly Infernape and Timid Gengar, otherwise good. Last 4 EVs should be HP.

So, thats my new team. Any criticism is welcome :)
Hope that helps

Looks alright. I dunno too much about Gastrodon...

- Shadow Ball
- Psychic

I'd prefer Sludge Bomb over Psychic. Otherwise looks good.

Garchomp @ Choice Scarf
Sand Veil
Adamant Nature ( + Attack, - Sp Attack )
252 Attack / 224 Speed / 32 Defense
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Fire Fang

If you have a AdamantChomp you would want Dragon Claw/Rush over Outrage.

- Spikes
- Roost
- Stealth Rock

Pretty balanced team you have there. I give it a 86/100.

Lol, my current team is alot better than this one. I replaced alot of moves to better fit my weaknesses and such.

And Whirlwind > Roar. Whirlwind hits everything, but Roar is blocked by anything with that Sound Proof ability (or something like that).

Yea... sorry, tervwj but I disagree with a lot of your advice. On a choice'd garchomp, outrage>dragon claw. Sludge bomb has terrible type coverage, so I wouldn't use it on Gengar.

And wow this is an old thread.

lol Don't you mean 32 EVs in Special Defense?

Skarmory @ Leftovers
Sturdy
Bold Nature ( + Defense, - Attack)
252 Defense / 252 Sp Defense / 4 HP
- Spikes
- Roost
- Stealth Rock
- Whirlwind

Rule one of using Skarmory: Max it's HP before it's Defense.

I wouldn't use Special Defense EVs.

Then again, I'd do this:

252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpDef

Blissey @ Leftovers
Natural Cure
Bold Nature ( + Defense, - Attack )
252 Defense / 252 Sp Defense
- Aromatherapy
- Softboiled
- Seismic Toss
- Thunder Wave

Lawlz, I'm using this fat *****. Everyone should already know what it does.

Put the remaining 4 EVs in HP.

Starmie @ Leftovers
Natural Cure
Modest Nature ( + Special Attack, - Attack)
252 Speed / 252 Sp Attack
- Thunder Bolt
- Ice Beam
- Recover
- Rapid Spin

Good team. When you rated teams, you always posted useful advice. So, it's only obvious that your RMT would be good and organized.

Umm, odd, not really an amazing lead, but interesting nonetheless

Okay.

Garchomp @ Choice Scarf
Sand Veil
Adamant Nature ( + Attack, - Sp Attack )
252 Attack / 224 Speed / 32 Defense
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Fire Fang FireBlast does more to physical steel walls
- Brick Break ???? Doesnt EQ and Fire cover everything that this hits?

Here's probably my second favorite Poke on the team. 224 Speed gives it one extra Speed point than ScarfCross. Cross can't OHKO Chomp, but a Fire Fang OHKOs Cross. - Softboiled
- Seismic Toss
- Thunder Wave

Lawlz, I'm using this fat *****. Everyone should already know what it does.

Starmie @ Leftovers
Natural Cure
Modest Nature ( + Special Attack, - Attack) Timid is better imo
252 Speed / 252 Sp Attack Once again, complete EVs
- Thunder Bolt
- Ice Beam
- Recover
- Rapid Spin

I hate Spikes with a passion. Rapid Spin takes care of those. I put Thunder Bolt on Starmie rather than Gengar because Waterfall Gyarados won't hurt Starmie as much, and either force it to switch out or stay in and die. Ice Beam takes care of whatever, and Recover keeps it alive.

any criticism? Doesnt gastrodon get completely outshined by swampert? oh, and i had a very similar team. except instead of gastrodon and gengar, i had infernape and electivire.
your team is decent. :D 7.5/10

I guess I should just edit the title. I don't need any more suggestions, as my current team isn't the same as this one. Pretty much what everyone is telling me to do now, I've already done.

Thanks for your help though.

Edit - I'm not going to edit my team with my current team, as I would like it to stay a secret and not have it used against me in any online tournaments.

Nice to see other people using the awesomeness that is Gastrodon.

On Gengar, it seems like there's probably another move that's better than Psychic.
