Are you getting both versions of Smash 4? What are your mains?
I'll pick it up on the WiiU. Not committed to any characters at this point. I enjoy Melee Ganondorf and Roy now in PM, but the odds of another character reviving either of those playstyles in Smash 4 are very slim. Just hoping another character stands out after proper hands on time with the game.

Cool, your wait and see approach is smart and from the looks of Smash 4 this game is going to be an entirely different beast than the past entries.

It'll have it's differences, but there will still be plenty of similarities. Out of all the Smash installments, this one does look the least distinct to me. Don't take that as a knock against the game by the way. I actually think the series stands to benefit from some greater consistency between sequels.

I think different is what this game need, I just hope its perceived well in a competitive aspect. This game will be successful no matter what and I don't mind watching Melee competitive but I do want to see something different from Smash as well.

Where the series currently stands some consistency would go a long way with polishing, iterating, and expanding on the previous installment(s). Re-focusing the franchise in this way would, in my opinion, result in the best possible Smash game this time around.

Keep in mind if all 3 previous Smash games were very similar to each other, I would definitely agree with you. Also, I think it would be very hard for the developers to create a new Smash game that didn't feel different enough for most people.

Yea, I mean don't fix something that's not broken. I didn't mean something totally different but something that will refresh the series in someway.

I'm actually interested to see how the new ledge mechanics change play. Not only have I always frowned on edgehogging in general, but the goal of keeping your opponent from grabbing the edge has always been central to play. It'll be interesting to see how the edge-trumping mechanic comes into play, as well as things like the off-edge running animation (might make a difference) and the general apparent focus on grounded play as opposed to the historic aerial domination.

Sorry, most of the time I am texting from my phone because I am not at my house at the moment. It is also hard trying to do that with my crappy phone lol.

Aerial play was never my strong point even in games like Marvel vs Capcom, so a more grounded play is welcomed to me anytime. I can't wait to see what combo's are discovered for this game, I always like how you are able to come up with your own style of play in the smash series.

I agree. The series could use a refresh with both the visual theme and flagship additions to the gameplay, especially after this game. Of course it's hard for there to be an evolution of ideas when the team changes with each new installment. It's difficult enough just replicating what others have done previously. Come to think of it, Hal Laboratories are the only Smash dev team that had two games to piece together their ideas and refine the direction.
