Well, just to clear up something: is Sora owned by Disney or Square Enix? Or is he owned by both companies?

both as far as i can tell. the game itself is considered a collaboration of the 2 properties. it may be a difference between intellectual property and designers rights though.

Anyhow, for those whom have not yet heard... Kingdom Hearts III has finally been announced!! Huzzah!!

But, just as I feared, it is going to be a Playstation 4 exclusive. Disappointing, but not surprising. (Shrugs) I guess I am going to be watching the cutscenes online when the game comes out, since I really do not want to buy a new console just for one game.

Nevertheless, this is thrilling news! Now the story is finally drawing to a close. Cannot wait to see what happens in Kingdom Hearts III. And cannot wait to hear Leonard Nimoy's voice in Kindgom Hearts again.

Hmm, seems you were right; the game has just been confirmed for the Xbox One. Maybe they will confirm it for the Wii U, too. Though, I do not know if I want to get mine hopes up.

Square Enix has revealed exactly why the long-awaited Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy XV won’t be coming to the platform. The development studio says that both games won’t be coming to Wii U as they use DirectX 11 which isn’t compatible with the console. The team said that Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts 3 is being developed using DirectX 11, so porting between Sony’s PlayStation 4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One would be easy .

As you can tell I am a Sora fan. Or just Kingdom Hearts in general.... but whatever. I am only going to discuss specials for now. (I am taking attacks from Super Smash Flash 2.... play it... it is fun)

Neutral Special: Fire: Sora surrounds himself in a magic fire attack.
Side Special: Strike Raid: Sora throws his keyblade forward.... he can make it come back to him at any time.
Down Special: Thunder: Sora shoots some thunder down to hit in front of him.
Up Special: Upper Cut: Sora goes upward with his keyblade.
Taunt 1: Sora puts his keyblade behind his head and says: I bet you can't even fight!
Taunt 2: Sora throws his keyblade in the air and says: Back off!
Taunt 3: Jiminy jumps onto the stage and writes +1 Enemies killed in his journal.
Final Smash: Trinity Limit: Time your series of button mashing to get the top percentage of damage.
Win 1: Puts his hands behind his head and laughs.
Win 2: Sora slices his keyblade in the air and turns away from the camera.

Dissidia was suppose to be a Kingdom Hearts fighting game, but Disney refuses to let their characters be in a fighting game

Since Sora is associated with Disney characters, I wonder if they would refuse to let him be in Smash or if they even have a say so.

Assuming if the powers that be would be interested in putting him in SM4SH

This is a bit of a misconception. Square ASSUMED Disney would say no so they never bothered approaching Disney with it. We can't say for sure what Disney's response would've been.

I feel like the only reason there could be issues is because there are 3 KH games coming out for ps3/ps4 in the next 2 years so it may cause issues, but i honestly think he would make the game. KH is a huge franchise and I know that it would make a lot of people buy the game just so they could kick links ass with a keyblade

It is a shame the HD remakes of Kingdom Hearts I and II will not be coming to the Wii U; I would have loved to play them.

Off-topic: Nintendo and NamcoBandai should make a three-dimensional multiplayer fighter that consists solely of RPG characters. Only two rules: the character must have originated from an RPG and must have appeared on a Nintendo platform at least once. I would love to see how such a game would turn out. Sora could even be in it. Hmm... maybe I will write a high concept statement once mine semester is over.

But anyhow, good to know some users still care about the thread.

I hate to burst everyone's bubble but there is no way sora can get into smash bros. We over at the playstation allstars forums have already tried countless times to get him in allstars since he's more affiliated with sony and playstation. Disney just doesn't like their characters in fighting games, they think it will hurt his image. Sorry.

I was playing DDD to kill time before the direct & it got me imagining for a moment the DDD styled Sora in the 3DS version of SSB. Which then lead to another thought: the 3DS & Wii U versions getting different Soras with "console" Sora on Wii U. Same movesets just different appearance as a play on the console/handheld rep division SSB4 has going.

As far as general opinion of Sora in SSB, eh better than Snake. I mean ideally Sora would be best in PSASBR instead but that ain't ever getting a sequel, & at least Sora aesthetically fits SSB better than most other 3rd parties out there.

You know, since most of Smash's stages have been behind a generation/year, the prospect of Sora in Smash isn't too hard to see, with DDD being a 3DS Title, and almost a launch one at that.

I've always thought he would be a fun character to play in SSB.

Nintendo handhelds have seen quite a few KH releases post-Brawl, but I'd still say he's in the practically impossible category. Them not even being able to put KHIII on the Wii U but expanding it to Xbox One "to be brought to more fans" (even though Xbox consoles have never seen a KH release in any way, shape, or form) has honestly ticked me off a bit to the point that I don't even care anymore.

I think he MAY happen eventually (like Smash 6 or 7) if Kingdom Hearts fans rally for support.

Nah, Sakurai would have more trouble than ever if he tried to get Square Enix' permission for Sora, that and he'd also have to go to Disney. The only thing that would get Sora in is if Nintendo bought Square Enix, which would not happen before they buy SEGA, because Square Enix would be of lower priority to Nintendo. If we were to get a Square Enix rep as of now, I doubt it would be Sora anyway.
