Its coming up in less than 2 weeks. Going to Test Your Might VIII. Well, I have so many mixed emotions. I KNOW im going to be nervous as heck. Yet, Im sooo hyped. Im kinda concerned since my good buddies on the ZSS boards said i should watch out as a girl gamer (way to add to the nerves, guys).

Though, I think I'll have a good time and I'll hopefully make a buncha new friends. And, this'll be a great way to improve.

So seasoned tourney-goers, any advice you can give me (especially about nervousness xD;; )?

You're going to lose, probably pretty badly.

Once you realize this, you can focus on learning and having fun, and the nerves will go away on their own.

Why do you need to watch you?

I'm a girl, and my first tournament I went to I did bad, but because of that experience I've done very well since then.

I guess all I can tell you is, being nervous is normal but when you go there, even if you lose you gained some match-up experience from it and experience of what a tournament is like. You'll be fine. :)

@Highfive: Thanks for the advice! I need to lurk the TYM topic more....

@Yink: Idk. ZSS boards like to be odd and mess with people haha.

My first tournament was just last fall. I won a set there, but I didn't place well otherwise.

Anyways, make sure you friendly as many people as possible. Talk with some other people going there in advance, probably in the tournament thread. Make sure not to make any enemies, either.

There's a thread in the tournament discussion forum about how to get the most out of your first tournament. I'll edit the link in here when I find it.

There you go. =]

Just don't expect to win. You never do well your first tourney.

Focus entirely on getting better. Save some replays, watch them, and look for your mistakes.

Get in as many friendlies as possible, and ask the people you play for advice. If you can, get dittos with another person that plays your character. It's nice to have somebody better than you show you the ropes with your own character.

i think they mean "watch out" as in sometimes creepy dudes try to hit on girls at tournaments LOL

but i think Lain might be there and he's mad cute so if you're a hottie than talk to him

unless you're like 12. in which case.... good luck and don't talk to Lain

lol j/k at all of this good luck

Enjoy your time at the tourny. Play tons of friendlys. They're fun and that is one ways to get better.
