In response to the possible less competitive nature of SSBB and its slower pace, I've decided to take up Fox. The space animals (I main Falco) were similar in the aesthetics of their moves, so I mostly played a Falco-styled Fox, ie mostly failing the SHL because short hopping with Fox is harder than Falco, generally full jumped (and maybe a double jump) drill kick into a shine (with some lag due to mistimed l-canceling), and using an up-smash or up air as a finisher.

Where do I start for real with Fox? <_<

Yeah.. Shorthop first. Then go to SHLs and DSHLs and waveshines. Start perfecting those. Then, when Brawl comes out, forget about it.

Pretty much none of what they said looked helpful to me in terms of SHDL

The way I found out to do it was rolling my thumb from X > B.

What I mean is NOT lifting your thumb off the controller at all. Keep it on the plasticzz at all times.

Now short hop with the slightest slide from X > B. just slide it quick from X > B and press B twice. You should have a ton of time. Oh, and try not to hit A, although it prolly wont happen too often, just be gentle.

TBQH I found sliding from X > A was good for shffl's too, but you can get away with lifting your thumb off the controller for those.

If this was at all unclear, which it most likely was just IM me or post here again.

As for the rest of your Fox game...

Basic combos:

Up throw > Up smash.

Up throw > U-air > and repeat

Dash A > U tilt > U-air

U-air > U-air and repeat

Fox's B-air is also wicked and his N-air has A TON of Priority.

Most of your advances should be with a shffl'd N-air > Shine. At higher percentages you wont need to shine as they'll be sent too far from the knock back.

Fox's kill moves are usually Up Smash or U-tilt but B-air is also good as is F smash. Shine spike as necessary.

Learn to wave shine (easier said then done).

Personally I also love down tilt > air combo of your choice.
