So this was revealed today (via the picture of the day on Miiverse):

"Pic of the day. The 3DS version has an excellent Sounds collection! The design looks nice for a sound test screen, doesn't it? The font color for the "Remix" text on remixed songs comes in pink or white. The pink ones are songs arranged for this version of Super Smash Bros., while the white ones are remixes made in earlier Smash Bros. games. This means there are reoccuring songs from past releases."

"Choose your songs and play with features on the bottom screen. You can listen to character voices, too. One of the new highlights for this feature is the "Play in Sleep Mode" option in the upper right. If you turn this on, you can listen to the tracks with your headphones even when your Nintendo 3DS is closed. The L and R Buttons will let you skip tracks. This means you can use it as a portable music player. Enjoy listening to the tracks you love by putting all songs in loop, shuffle, or selecting your favorite tracks!!"

At the same time, the official site was updated with a music section, which shows three arranged tracks of the 3DS version, as well as the musicians who worked on the soundtrack.

http://www.smashbros.com/us/music/

Artists / Main Composition:

ACE (TOMOri Kudo / CHiCO) /// Xenoblade Chronicles
Masato Coda (designwave Co., Ltd.) /// Monster Hunter series
Masashi Hamauzu /// Final Fantasy XIII
Kenji Ito /// Romancing SaGa series
Noriyuki Iwadare /// GRANDIA, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies
Shota Kageyama /// Pokémon and Pokémon Y, Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version
Yuzo Koshiro /// Etrian Odyssey, Streets of Rage
Yasunori Mitsuda /// CHRONO TRIGGER
Michiko Naruke /// Wild Arms
Hideki Sakamoto /// Toukiden
Motoi Sakuraba /// Dark Souls series, Tales of series
Tetsuya Shibata /// Devil May Cry 2, 3, 4
Yoko Shimomura /// Kingdom Hearts series, Mario & Luigi RPG series
Masafumi Takada /// Danganronpa series
Hirokazu Tanaka /// Metroid
Kumi Tanioka /// FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES series
Nobuko Toda /// Metal Gear Solid 4
Shohei Tsuchiya /// DARIUSBURST series
Atsuko Asahi /// Animal Crossing: New Leaf
Daisuke Matsuoka /// Tomodachi Life
Toru Minegishi /// The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, Wii Fit

And others (check the link above).

So yeah. The soundtrack, albeit limited for no reason whatsoever, sounds promising. I love arrangements!

The following two music tracks are semi-confirmed for at least Jungle Japes, most likely.

Both songs play on the same level, in that order, so they might get remixed and transition into each other. Who can say? Sorry for the confusion.

Well... If there isn't a Rhythm Heaven stage, there isn't music from the game either, I think.

I love this music so much. Where was it confirmed? The site only lists the Multi-Man, Zelda and Pokémon tracks.

I feel dumb now. :nifty:
Nah it's cool!

I, uh... I had to edit my post back there. Apparently there is another music track with the same name or something that's totally different. Now I'm not sure which it is.

edit: Welp, here's a video of the level in question. Seems it's... BOTH MUSIC TRACKS?! Now I don't know what to think, lol!

I was shocked and hyped when I saw this.
And I hope you guys don't get freaken out that some of the musicians' main compositions DOES NOT MEAN THAT THESE franchise will have a reference in the game. Like Metal Gear, Zenoblade etc.

Seeing the Tomodachi Life composer there gives me hope that we might see an arrangement of the Tomodachi Life concert songs. They were hilariously cheesy.

Well.... Dr.Mario's music did appear in Brawl, but if course no Dr.Mario, maybe the Mario Bros stage will be back.

Now this interests me quite a bit. Being able to use the 3DS as a Smash soundtrack player with my headphones, while the system is closed, even? That's pretty freaking cool. I've not heard of that capability before for 3DS. I'm liking that a lot!

HOLD IT!....Why Do We have Ballad of the Goddess and Ghirahim's theme on the 3DS? What stage would that music be on? Skyloft is not on 3DS

Either Spirit Train or Geurdo Valley most likely.

Any of these could be just for Smash Run, right? So even if there might be tracks that might not fit to the stages shown here, Ithey must be for Smash Run then.

But I Thought We Had 2 Tracks for Gerudo and Sprit Train already? Also why have it on those two stages? Its Makes No Sense
Perhaps because there is a new Zelda character from Skyward Sword in Smash? So Ballad of the Goddess being in both versions would make sense.

I don't think we got confirmation of the two tracks that play in each Zelda stage.

Because most stages, if not all, will have 2 music tracks. Think about how Melee worked. some stages had regular fitting music, and a bonus track. Like that Dr. Mario music you love so much, for one. Or the Fire Emblem theme on Hyrule Temple.

They're going to keep it mostly confined to same-franchise stages, though.

That is possible, but I don't see any songs up there that stick out that much. Ghirahim's theme is still a Zelda track, so there's no reason it can't play on the Spirit Tracks stage. I mean, think of the DK Rap on Kongo Jungle in Melee. That's a DK 64 song that has no business being on that stage, really. Granted, Kongo Jungle was a generic stage, but still.

We actually heard Gear Getaway in the Smash Direct, I believe it was during the item segment, so it's not new. Kongo Jungle is back though, which means we're getting the DK Rap again.

I'm a little upset at the absence of David Wise (Donkey Kong Country) but he'll have a chance in the Wii U version! Still crossing my fingers for a Bramble Blast stage.

I think it's a list of musicians for both versions. I suppose all things common to both versions have their own pages (How to play, Characters, Music) while the specific points would go to 3DS and WIIU.

I hate that leak!
Seriously please let us just hope that he is an alternate costume, not a new character.

This thread has nothing to do with the leak. Please don't bring this discussion here, there is a thread for it already.

Does anyone not really care that it's only two songs? There are some stages in Brawl where I would only allow that many... I just like knowing what to expect I suppose. Just thinking of Hyrule Castle in Melee, it was just so nice when you would hear FE music, like "oh, that's different!" I'm looking forward to hearing all of the new and old tunes alike.

Of course I care about that, specially when the game is only 2.1GB, when it could have been way bigger with tons of music. The fact all music revealed so far are arrangements kind of make for the fact we only have two songs per stage, though.

So I suppose the 3DS and Wii U versions will share songs other than original compositions. This is nice as I now don't have to worry about having to switch versions as much to listen to my favorites.

N Final and the Elite Four Battle Theme should totally play in N's Castle.
Perfect combo of music for when Reshiram/Zekrom appear :)

If they are songs well done, I personally don't care.

Like the quote above, I could do with one track(N Final-BW1).

While it says this guy composed music for Kingdom Hearts and Mario & Luigi, there was a pretty big part that the site forgot to mention.

He did most of Street Fighter 2's OST.

Including Guile's Theme.

If I get to play Smash to Guile's Theme, I will literally cry of joy.

I made that mistake a few times. But this is fantastic- she's one of my favorite composers. While I don't really play the Mario and Luigi franchise, I love the music from it and am a massive Kingdom Hearts fan.

Lords and ladies gasp in fear.

Nice! Michiko Naruke's back :D
Sadly, while I wished Wild Arms music joined Smash's lineup, Sony owns the series. If only... *sigh*
