I would like to have a real discussion about this.

I read these from okaygo:
http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=111703
http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=112699
and this one
http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=105166

So what i read is that Mupen have a new input plugin, record feature integrated and less lag in general but, it has no gameshark support.

I must say that i tried it with a friend from spain to argentina in a p2p match and it worked worst than project. A lot of crashes and fps variations (we used rice, jabo's 7 and 8 plugins)

Project doesn't crash that much, i can always use any input plugin if i like and can record using the p2p client.

It works more stable in high ping matches over p2p (almost no fps variations), and i have no problems using any kaillera client.

Don't take this like a "let's kill mupen" thread, I just want to know why should i switch to it right now.
I think mupen is a great emulator, and it takes more points for being open source. I'm sure it'll become better than Project at any time.

From what I know, Mupen is closer to the console than Project. It has less delay. And has the better recording feature.
The problem with mupen is that takes more PC resources than Project.

And thats it. It would be great that people switched to mupen in my opinion

I'd switch to Mupen IF it used less resources, it lags not because of my internet or anything else just cause theres more to run

My pc doesnt suck at all, just HATES mupen. I'll get random frame drops when im trying to do technical things then i get punished for it and usually end up losing because of it
If I play in Project it feels different but I wouldn't say Mupen feels THAT much closer to console. Console feels completely different to both

I prefer PJ to summarize >__>

Mupen is better, if your PC can handle it. Actually, for me, it crashes LESS than Project.

Also, I don't use Rice. I use Jabo 8 and N-Rage. Jabo 8 actually comes with it, and you can alter the settings [you don't have to trick it like Project].

M00pen has no gameshark support so I cant use my HIT ANYWHERE code combined with my RACE TO THE FINISH code for epic matches

Mupen has more system requirements I think, but it plays smoother. I also think it crashes more often than PJ though, but that depends on the specs of both players, with some people it works perfectly fine to me. I don't like the record function, it always gives a message when you start recording, which freezes the game for a moment or until you restart.

So I only use Mupen because it plays smoother.

You can use the P2P record option you know? Mupen allows both a game state capture [similar to P2P recording and ZSNES normal recording], and a video capture option, which dumps it to a video file. So you do the normal P2P record, then when you do playback of the P2P record, you use Mupen video capture.

Maybe it's because I use Vista. PJ64k sucks balls on Vista [albeit workable].

lol sure thing brah
No problem ;)

I know that mupen comes with N-rage's input plugin and Rice's video plugin as default. But i wonder if it doesn't desynch when one player is using Rice and the other Jabo's video plugin as it happens in project

IIRC kaillera's recorder makes the game laggier than Mupen's recorder :O
And it really sucks balls omg. I mean, if I wanna record 10 matches, I have to record them all in a single file (including the options set-up) or keep closing the game and restarting it to have different files. While with Mupen you just have to press ctrl + F8 and F8 again when you wanna start a new recording, meaning you can have a file per match :x

Forgot to say, Project64kVE is just Project64k with Vista settings. I altered Project64k to work with Vista before VE came out, so I'm basically running my own custom built VE.

VE is made for people who don't know what they're doing.

And Grunt, Project64K. XD

Kaillera's recorder doesn't make the game laggier...but the other part sounds like a legit reason to use Mupen's recorder. :p

And blargh Boom, we can't even hit 3 frames. <_<

i dont like Mupen because it lies about fps...says 60 most of the time but even when it spikes to 54fps, it doesnt move some times....

makes people who lag think they dont lag D:
