For the record I don't have an issue with the premise of Trophy's Edge, I just think they fumbled it by putting a wonder woman statue in the dead center of a cool island, which is gonna make people think it's Themyscira.

The grind for this game feels slow; I've been playing for two and a half, maybe three, hours, and despite completing all of the daily and weekly missions so far, I've still got a ways to go in order to unlock Joker. (I could unlock a different character, but only one - I have 4900 character currency, and characters cost 3000, aside from the Joker who costs 6000)

I've seen people on social media claim that it's just like unlocking characters in other fighting games, but in something like Smash Bros., you just have to play 10 versus matches or beat classic mode or something to get a character, so the process is usually a lot quicker. (15 minutes or so, with some exceptions like Mewtwo) Here, it feels like a slog - some challenges award you the currency to unlock characters, but you only get 10 currency from those, and 10/3000 isn't exactly much.

I'm enjoying playing as Jason, at least, and I'm planning to save up for the DC characters aside from Black Adam. (Black Adam feels like one of those inclusions that almost immediately makes a game feel dated or the product of a very specific time, like Donte from DmC: Devil May Cry in PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale, or to a lesser extent Starkiller in Soul Calibur 4)

Yeah I think Rifts plus getting a character to Level 14 helps grind character tokens.

Sadly I am friendless so guess I’m solo grinding.

I haven't mentioned it thus far but good god I am so sick of battle passes. They're just tiring to complete and I don't want to play one (or in my case, three) games all the time. At least I finally can stop with Overwatch since new heroes aren't locked but like Fortnite has the only one I would quantify as relatively good as they provide so many ways to earn copious amounts of XP and because each season is two months there's at least enough time to get what you want - but then there's Multiversus. I managed to get through the first page but I am dreading more because I think I'm getting less now, especially since they're locking difficulties behind gem level (which is ****ing stupid - you have to grind so you can grind!). If I wanna tackle the harder difficulties, let me. Oh, and get this - the hardest difficulties have limited lives... but of course, you can buy more. I don't think I've ever seen corporate greed this blatant in a F2P game before. Even OW wasn't this bad at launch.

Well, with character grinding, between Shaggy, Banana Guard and the four weekly rotation characters, getting all to Level 14 will net you 3,600 Fighter Currency. As for Rifts, I don't know what getting the Rift Cauldrons(which you can't get without beating at least one of those Friend missions) gets you besides EXP for your Gems, but getting your Gem level to 4 and doing the first 3 difficulties and bosses for the two Currant Rifts will allow to reach Level 6 in the Smith event banner, which I think gives 200 Fighter Currency.
The Joker event will eventually give out 700 Currency if you keep doing the Joker event missions. Doing all the Summer Log-in bonuses will eventually give 650 altogether. Doing all of the Agent Smith event banner will eventually give 3000 Currency altogether. And getting all of the Fighter Currency in the Battle Pass will give you 3,500 altogether, while I think around 1500-2000 of it is on the Free Banner, like how you can get 500 Gleamium from the Free Pass.

For those wanting to level up their Gems to reach the difficulties unlocked by Gem level so they can level up the Agent Smith event banner, do the Daily Battle Wins in the Rifts on the currant highest difficulty you have available. You know when you enter the Rift selection and there will be the Daily Battles in one of the Rifts for that day? Doing the Rift Quests it asks you to do that day will give you an Acme Box to get EXP for your Gems. And you can do up to 5 of them IIRC. Just know that the Daily Battle boxes on the Mission list won't checkmark the box when you beat them and you can't get Daily Wins on each difficulty, so if you're leveling up Gems, do not do the easiest difficulty as it will give you very little EXP for your Gems and you will not be able to get the daily boxes on the harder difficulties afterwards that day.
---
Basically, unless you really grind the characters you have currently, alot of the Fighter Currency is going to be coming at a pace. If you don't want to lose sanity from grinding, it's best to simply do the daily stuff and take your time over losing sleep. Those weekly missions with the required characters suck, but it's better not to push yourself over it.
There are more than likely going to be more online events and whatnot that will give out more Currency as they happen, like the Twitch drops and Youtube Livesteam. Probably going to see them alot with newcomer announcements and whatnot. But regardless, taking your time and not pushing yourself to grind is going to be the overall healthier approach, though hopefully, the developers fix some of the bigger problems soon-ish(and hopefully, Warner Bros behind them loosen their grip).

What's annoying me right now is you can only get BP XP from missions, which are finite per day/week, and once youre done with those youre locked out of progressing the BP.

I know they said they'd fix it but holy **** can they hurry up and make it so BP XP is earned through just playing like it was before? You can't even buy more XP, there's no reason for it to be like this besides being an inconvenience.

I like how my friend sometimes just literally can't progress a daily because they literally don't own required characters. Rather than pick the characters he wanted we had to figure out the characters that would get us the most XP bang - Harley, btw, is one of them since her default skin counts as both Heroic and Villainous, and because she's a DC character and Assassin so she can fulfil four separate criteria.

It's a good thing he already had Shaggy and Finn so we just had to figure out a mage. Best options for characters for newbies are to get Banana Guard free, Harley, and then Rick, Bugs, and Steven based on moveset challenge credentials and character challenges.

WE HAD TO OPTIMIZE CHARACTER UNLOCK CHOICES IN ORDER TO FULFILL BASIC MISSIONS HOW DID THEY THINK THIS WAS OKAY

On the topic of grinding, I do agree that the grind can be monotonous (and this is coming from someone who got everyone in the Beta), and I also agree there should be more ways to earn Battle Pass XP and Fighter Currency.

Apparently he is back in, albeit under “Crow” his old codename.

Unrelated, the Ruby Rose stuff was not old code from an older build waiting to be scrapped.

Can we get a source on both the Gandalf and Ruby info?

Oh i just realized maybe the people that have 12k are people that played the beta and got all the characters (unlike me who only had shaggy and WW)

Still, how the hell did they get that amount of money? I see nothing in the rewards that imply so

I think the three starter packs also include some fighter currency.

Genos has said ruby is still in and he provided proof he knew about them before the datamime
The Rate Their Chances thread had me thinking about Ruby before the leak, and honestly I was going to give her a decent score. Game development takes time, PFG very well could have started development before the announcement Rooster Teeth was shutting down. She's a decently popular request from a decently popular series. After the news breaks, they wouldn't want to waste the work they already did, so they finish release her anyways. And that seems to be the case!

If only I mentioned this anywhere, because right now it looks like I'm lying so I can brag about guessing something in the dying shaggy bugs bunny game

So I was finally able to play Multiversus after the launch and...

I still really like it. Tom and Jerry continue to be incredibly fun to play. The game is slower, but I can still do some pretty nasty combos so I'm enjoying myself. I'll be honest, a lot of the complaints I'm hearing were complaints I had with the beta, so I wonder about some of them. I have little new complaints about the gameplay and any issues I have could be chalked up to preference. A lot of these could be easy patch fixes. And I hope things like the removal of the KO counter get patched soon.

The monetization could be troubling though. Since it's launch, I'm getting lots of stuff. I'm getting that dopamine that makes me want to come back and play tomorrow. But how punished will I be if I take a break (because life is busy and sometimes I want to play different video games)? How grindy will the game get? How fast will content come out? How pressured will I be to plunge into paying money? I straight up bought the Joker pack since I loved the beta and I've been excited for the full release. But even then, I feel like it might have been just a tad too high. I played for like... an hour and got almost enough in game currency to buy a character. I can deal with that kind of pace. Will that last? Probably not.

I'll be honest, I checked the reddit (big mistake I know). I expected memes and silly celebration posts. I got a LOT of doomposting. Not completely unwarranted mind you, but its so much that the negativity seems to be feeding into itself. There are some big problems with the game. Very big. But I'm seeing some people lose their minds over some pretty pointless things.

Most of all... I'm curious how PFG will respond to all the criticism at launch (warranted and unwarranted).

I also finally play and I must say that yes the game is slow... but I still really like the gameplay loop. I feel like despite the slow speed, 1 vs 1 are much more fun than in beta thanks to the new hitbox. 2 vs 2 is still chaotic despite the slow speed, which I like. My only big problem is that I do wish balancing was better. I haven't played enough to make a tier list, but Shaggy still feel way too strong for how easy he is to pick up, and Arya Stark still deals damage way too fast. Steven is still pretty much useless. Those aren't huge problem in the grand scheme of thing, but after a 1 year hiatus, I was expecting them to rework the balancing.

My only fear, similar to Swamp Sensei, is how much one would be missing out if you stop playing and come back later. This is a huge problem with some other free to play games, for example Destiny 2 is known for being a fun game if you've been playing since begining, but it's really intimidating for new players because events keep disappearing so it's pretty much impossible to unlock older stuff. I feel like Multiversus will have the same problem, right now players are happy that Jason is free and Agent Smith seems to be free (although a bit grindy to get), but Jason is in a seasonal battle pass and Smith in a limited time events, so a player that starts the game in august will miss out on those. So I feel like it will be really hard for new players to get into the game because they'll realise that they're been missing out on some characters.

Also a weird issue I have is that unless I'm blind, you can't change the audio langage, but you could in beta. That being said, I still love so much the French version of this game. They finally add the French voice for Rick and Morty (in beta they were speaking in English), and Joker also have is original french dub voice that voices in many cartoons and games. The only problem I find is Mojo Jojo speak in English even in French dub.

Looked it up. It’s the bar that appears when you collect medals by doing objectives in the rifts.
Two of them are always “Win” and “Play with a friend”
The other 3 vary and are similar to the Daily Missions.
Some of the objectives can include “Win with a character from X” or “Win with a character of this tag”. (For example, a mission can be “Win with a Human character” so Batman would count but not Wonder Woman. Steven Universe has both “Human” and “Non-Human” so he counts for both)
(Variants can change tags. For example, Batman and Velma are the only characters with a “Detective” tag, but Joker and Tom & Jerry have Variants that give them the tag)

Edit: Speaking of Rifts:
There was a problem fetching the tweet

Tony also confirmed post game stats will return in a future patch.

It's the last reward for the Rifts. Like for the Joker one, it's 100 while for the Detective one, it's like 80 or something. Basically, you need to reach that number of Stars from the missions you do to get it. Two very important things to note.
  1. There are 125 Mission stars you can get in the Joker Rift, meaning you don't need all of the Stars to get the Cauldron. I think there are also around 100 Stars for the detective one despite requiring around 80. Not a bad thing by itself.
  2. However, here's the bad kicker and poor insight on the developers part. According to somebody on Reddit, you cannot reach 100 Stars without doing one of the Co-op with Friend Stars. If you get all of the non-Friend stars from all of the missions, including the Joker missions and Lady Banana Guard missions when she comes out, that still only gives you 99 Stars, literally 1 Star off from the 100 Mark. In other words, it's impossible to get the Cauldron without doing one mission with a friend.
So understandably, people are legitimately angry that Solo players cannot get the Rift Cauldron without being forced to play with a stranger to get the missions. Like the developers having the Rift Cauldron require only 100 Stars out of 125 of them is a good thing, but then a big backstep with the Rift Cauldron only being able to be gotten through playing with a friend. All they need to do is change those Friend missions to something different and accessible by Solo players to fix the entire issue.

It seems that they have silently replaced Dexter's Lab 1 with Dexter's Lab 2 for the unranked queue. Very glad they did this.

Also, for those who have a lot of characters unlocked (or already have everyone), I highly suggest you to do the Power Pledge Drive event. All you have to do is level up your low level characters for an easy 600 Fighter Currency, 2000 Battle Pass XP and 100 Gleamium.

On Power Pledge, if you own a fighter (or free rotation) and play one game with them at level 0, that counts as a level.

Is the ranked queue even available? Yesterday it was locked for me.

It's bugged. I brought Arya up two levels and it didn't register as points towards the event.

So I just found out that reaching Career tier 15 gives 1,500 Fighter Currency. So that might partially explain why there are some people with a lot of Fighter Currency.
Heck, with that, the Joker Event(700), the Power pledge event(600), tomorrow's Summer Log-in bonus(100) and getting a character to Level 5(100), that's 3000 Currency there.

You guys think they'll release Daffy around the time "The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie" gets released? The movie doesn't have a proper release date yet, but it's grand premiere will be on June 11, 2024 at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.
