Even though this is very minor, I think that they should add a different pose for each button on the control pad. The reason I'm calling it a pose instead of a taunt is because not every pose IS a taunt. Infact, most taunts like Luigi's don't fit the discription at all.

Besides the naming point, the reason I would like more taunts is to involve more social action into the game, including online play. I've always found it fun as Fox to yell "come on!" to my opponent who was camping on the other side of stage, but you don't get quite the same effect with every character.

The first pose, up-D, would actually be a taunt, a gesture to get your opponent to strike back. Fox's taunt is a great example

The second pose could be a victory pose, using right-D, you could get something similar to Bowser's taunt where he roars in achievement.

With Left-D, you can do a bragging pose, sort of like Link's taunt that implies that that was too easy.

And the last pose(Down-D) can be anthing random like Luigi's or Mario's old taunts. They really didn't provide a purpose except something to look at.

I think this could really work, and with enough creativity, they could make each set of poses unique for each character. Not every character has to yell "come on!". Falco could yawn as a taunt, or Mario could cheer "here we go!" for his victory. It's a simple addition much like the additions added during the transition from SSB to SSBM.
