Multiplayer Co-op Modes!

When I saw the update today, (Names, Game Modes), I was pretty happy with it, especially because in the corner of the first picture, it says, "Multiplayer/Names". I found this very interesting because in Melee, this would have said, "Versus/Names", the fact that this has been changed to Multiplayer leaves it open to having Co-op modes on Brawl. Obviously this is not confirmed or anything, but I'm feeling more confident that this could be a possibility.

I'm thinking that this would be similar to 1-P modes, except in team battles, your ally would be the other player, and in free-for-all battles, they would add another character to battle, or would make the character harder, (ex. Giant Donkey Kong kind of thing).

I feel less confident that there will be Co-op modes for 4-P and maybe even 3-P however, I'm thinking mostly 2-P, but who knows?

If anything of the sort is in Brawl, I feel it would be greatly unplayed by the majority of serious smashers. I personnally would play it a few times, but if team attack wasn't on then I really wouldn't want to.
I hope that if they do anything of the sort that they put team attack on when you play on medium or higher and not just change the level of difficulty.
In fact, this would be nice in the other 1P modes as well.

That'd be sweet if that was true. But who knows what the final version will have in store, or what Sakurai will throw at us next.

Actually, I put some thought into this and...it's not happening.
"Multiplayer/NAMES."
That's like saying: "Smash World Forums/Super Smash Bros. Brawl/General Brawl Discussion/Multiplayer Co-op Modes!"

It's just another layer within the whole multiplayer scheme.
Multiplayer as in SSBM "Melee" .

I don't know whether or not it will happen, and I don't know whether or not I want it to happen.
If he left it out, and just tweak one character, I would be happy.
If he left it out, and added one character, I would be happy.
If he left it out, I will be happy.
I don't care what he does, I'm preety sure it will be good.
But honestly, I would be extatic if Brawl DIDN'T come out and all he did was make melee online. I think Brawl will not surpass melee, and melee WILL NOT DIE!
But we all know that isn't going to happen.
The only other thing I can contribute to this topic right now is at the end.
Instead of a final boss, the players fight each other.

That's my humble oppinion...

Multiplayer as in SSBM "Melee" .
It could mean anything, but if it would have said, "VS Mode", like it did in Melee. that would have to mean that Smashers were against each other. Changing this to "Multi-Player" can mean anything. I think that if there was only Versus, Sakurai would have left it as VS Mode, what other reason would he have to change this.

the wii could probably handle up to 8 players, as i originally hoped brawl would be 8 players, so 5-6 melee won't be a problem.

Today's Brawl update gives slight evidence of multiplayer co-op possibility. It'd be a good addition, as it's never been done with Smash before now that I think about it.

This update proves co-op was in? I figured co-op in Mode A. Think about it; "They know nothing but fighting. Fighting is the sole reason for their existence." He then goes on to say "When someone...or something...breaks those rules, the world will pay a terrible price...". Plus, there's this.

The rule of the world is to keep fighting. Yet Mario and Kirby have broken that rule by not fighting. We can only assume that once two Smashers join forces, The Halberd and it's tons of Bowser looking clouds and wierd shadow guys comes to tear s**t up, in which Mario and Kirby must fight back.

My theory, anyway. I imagine it being something like that.

Yeah I just had an idea, what about online Co-op mode. For the subspace emissary, you go online find a person or people to play with. Probaly won't happen just an idea.

Would give me something to do when I play with people who aren't at the same play level as me... I often offer people I know I'd just swat if they want to play Team Melee instead with me and them vs. 2 lvl 9 CPU. This would be a great alternate avenue.

Online co-op FTW! The new focus on a story mode really opens up a lot of potential for the game... since it has been revealed as a side-scroller, it would be easy to have two people mashing through baddies at the same time. There are a ton of coop side-scrolling fighting games, but smash would take it to a new level of awesomeness.

Yes, I am also very excited with some more evidence from this new update... but I think I've been thinking of it a little different from the rest of you, when the new update said, "Adventure Mode-The Subspace Emissary" most of you thought that maybe there will be different types of adventure modes, and different types of classic and all-star modes, etc.
Now... while I thought that at first, now I'm starting to think is that instead of Regular Match in 1P-Mode, it'll be Adventure Mode, in Adventure Mode there will be Classic Mode, The Subspace Emissary, and probably a few more other modes, the same thing in Multi-Player, but with 2-P Adventure Mode or something with those modes in it.
Let me know what you think about that...

If the above confused you, this is what I mean:

Main Menu:
1P Mode
Multi-Player Mode
(Perhaps Trophies)
Options
Data

1P Mode:
Adventure Mode
Event Matches
Stadium
Training Mode

Multi-Player Mode:
2-P Adventure Mode
Brawl
Tournament Brawl
Special Brawl
Custom Rules
Name Entry

Adventure Mode/2-P Adventure Mode:
Classic
The Subspace Emissary
All-Star
(Probably a few more)

Co-op has got to be in the game, see the way Mario and others were staying together (on Fridays update), just like you would in co-op, and yes online co-op would be too good.

I thought of this happening but unless they found the time to impement it they won't put it in.

I would really want it to happen though.

I hate to burst so many, many bubbles, but Sakurai does write:

"More than anything, Smash Bros. is a competitive action game. People have been kind enough to praise its multiplayer, but we’ve never been able to create a fully fleshed out single-player game.

This time, though, we’ve managed to create a complete side-scrolling action game. It’s storyline isn’t over..."

And blah. Blah. Blah.

Sounds to me like Sora is probably going to keep it single player, yes.

But by golly would it be cool if it was 2 player.

I'd love co-op! Even if they couldn't do co-op, they could style its 2-player as old platformers did... Players take turns in a race to complete the game. I rather enjoyed doing that back in the days of SNES!

Yhea maybe with set characters (e.g. in the SE it has to be Yoshi and Link or Mario and Kirby).
