So in case you guys hadn't noticed, Falco is slow.:070:
And also in case you hadn't noticed, the movement options in Smash 4 are limited compared to other Smash games.

Can you guys share some things you do to allow Falco to get around easier? Could be tech, techniques, or different attacking options.

Thanks!

SH Phantasm helps you cover distance, jumping and FFing can help dodge some things. But seriously, Falco doesn't really have to go anywhere. You make the opponents come to you, and you just protect your space.

SH Phantasm like he said, and if you're playing customs are are going with Fast Firebird, that's a good quick option to get out of dodge. You can also use it out of phantasm which is useful. There's also the Sliding Fast Firebird technique that allows you to slide forward with attacks if you Up-B into the stage at an angle.

Ok I got you. There's a thread for the Fast Firebird slide technique right? And also, does it work with any Firebird?

Nope, it only works for Fast Fire Bird and Fox's Flying Fox. The reason being is that the other Fire Bird and Fox moves don't have the momentum Fast Fire Bird and Flying Fox have. Use Fast Fire Bird and Fire Bird horizontally in the air and you can see the momentum while Distant Fire Bird has almost no momentum which means Falco gets locked in a slow horizontal movement when in the air.

I was considering locking this thread because there is this thread for approaching: http://smashboards.com/threads/falco-approaches-and-combos-strings.372417/, but we don't really have a thread specifically on Falco's movement. Aside from Instant Action Phantasm - the short hop Falco Phantasm or Fox Illusion and maybe even the Pits' Upperdash and Electroshock Arms - and the more difficult Fast Fire Bird slide, there's the basic movements that everyone knows about: walking, dashing, foxtrotting, dash dancing, perfect pivots, short hop fast fall, etc. Falco can still pivot walk and he can feint hop like what Manny Manito likes doing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAqHMc50Vfk.

What are some good movement options for Falco?

We already have a thread on this which I will just merge your thread with the first. To go over, pretty much everything all characters have should be used with Falco with special notes going to short hop fast fall or SHFFs because of Falco's high fall speed and low landing lag or auto-canceling aerials like Nair, Uair, and Bair which Falco can do backwards SHFFs to bait people into getting into Bair range. Pivoting and perfect pivoting are useful to Falco as well. The thing with Falco is that while he's slow, his initial dash is fast and it covers a good distance making his foxtrot and perfect pivots travel decently. His walking speed being barely slower than his running speed also helps since if he's not chasing or needs to run, he can just walk around while having more options that dash grab, dash attack, Up Smash, jump, Specials, spot dodge, roll, and shield.
