It's funny you should condescend me, when you cherry-picked my post to such a degree that you only managed to respond to one point. Are you conceding to all the others?
Since you keep repeating points I've already addressed, I didn't feel the need.

Any outsiders even remotely invested in Ness or Lucas as Super Smash Bros characters are more than aware of their differences. It doesn't take a lot of play time to realize that. Are you saying that people unfamiliar with Mother now assume all its characters are PSI users in stripey shirts? That's nonsense. Anyone even slightly curious about Earthbound or Mother 3 need not go to the ends of the earth to find out who the characters are.
No, it's not ****ing nonsense. Nobody's going to go to the internet and look that up. Because chances are they won't consider the game interesting if it appears from the outside that every character is just the same. The same thing happens with the Fire Emblem characters, most people end up just assuming that that's what the game is, a lot of blue haired swordsmen. You can talk about a select group of hardcore gamers who research everything, but they're not the demographic of the game.

You know what a genuinely innacurate depiction of the diversity of the series would be? The suggestion that Mother = "Earthbound" and nothing more. There is no merit for including another Earthbound character over the main protagonist of Mother 3.
Except for, you know, all the ones I've been talking about with regards to Jeff having more moveset potential, and being more different to Ness than Lucas is even though he's from the same installation of the series. I also talked about how those two are similar enough to Ninten and Loid that it serves as a representation of the first game too, but now we're not quite up to actually reading people's posts are we.

I really hope both Ness and Lucas return. I don't really see Lucas being replaced by Jeff, although it is an interesting theory. He has the potential of a great moveset, however I don't think he really has a shot. As great as a character as Jeff is, I think there are other characters that represent the franchise more. Jeff represents Mother 2, but we already have Ness. He plays an important role in the story, but no more important than Paula, Poo, or Porky.

In the off chance we do get a third rep, I bet it will be Porky. Porky plays a big role in both Earthbound and Mother 3. He would be a unique character and probably a lot of fun to use.

I personally would rather have Masked Man though as far as potential newcomers go, but that is only because I prefer his character in the story. I also would REALLY like to see Fassad (Yokuba). I think he would be an awesome addition. His character was awesome in Mother 3 and he would be able to bring a lot of new to the roster. Plus, if he were to borrow any moves, he actually uses PK Freeze, Thunder, Sandstorm in the game. I know he doesn't have any chance, but he would be my first pick.

Realistically though, I don't see we get more than Ness and Lucas, if we get that.

Since we already have a Mother 3 and Earthbound Rep, I kind of want a regular Mother Rep. Like Ninten actually, but I don't think his chances are too high.

Porky is part of my top 3 most wanted newcomers, so I definitely would want him out of everyone.

I include Porky as one of my guilty pleasures, so I'd be ecstatic if they turned the bosses from Brawl into playable characters (Petey, Ridley, Porky) except for the original ones and Rayquaza.

Since you keep repeating points I've already addressed, I didn't feel the need.
You haven't addressed how fewer people are reached when we limit the Mother series to only characters from Earthbound. You haven't addressed how elements of cut characters like Pichu and Dr. Mario were preserved in their counterparts whereas Lucas's playstyle would be totally lost. You haven't addressed how the opinions of the "Smash community" don't matter, and that online opinion is one of the last things Sakurai looks at when considering SSB characters. You didn't address the real reasons Falco and Ganondorf stayed despite being clones, nor the real reasons Mario has more characters than much smaller franchises.

You made some points, and I was polite enough to respond to each of them. I'd like you to do the same instead of covering your ears and pretending I didn't say anything at all.

No, it's not ****ing nonsense. Nobody's going to go to the internet and look that up. Because chances are they won't consider the game interesting if it appears from the outside that every character is just the same. You can talk about a select group of hardcore gamers who research everything, but they're not the demographic of the game.
This is total invention. You expect me to take you seriously when your main argumentative force is "oh they might think this"? People don't assume Fire Emblem is just blue haired swordsman. It simply isn't true. Not only are they exposed to other elements of Fire Emblem through stages and assist trophies, but through regular trophy descriptions available in-game. And all that is before they type "Fire Emblem" in to Google, which contrary to what you might think people are in fact capable of. If they aren't interested in the series at that point then they probably aren't ever going to be.

Furthermore, what is this idea that SSB should include characters designed to make people play other games? According to Sakurai, it works in the complete opposite way. Characters are included to make people want to play SSB. As you ignored before, Ness covers everybody who likes Earthbound by himself. Nobody else is reached by including Jeff. Lucas, on the other hand, represents an entirely different game and respectively plays a much larger role.

Clearly not, since you haven't been able to pay much attention. "Moveset potential" is not a magical pair of words that warrants every character under the sun a spot in SSB. Other things must be taken into account, for example their number of appearances and their significance to their franchise. Like I said before, so far no character has been able to get into SSB on only one game appearance, unless they were the main playabe protagonist (such as the Ice Climbers or Ness). This is because those characters are at the forefront of their own game and the player is with them (usually) 100% of the time. Players come to know those characters the best.

This is why (or at least, this is one of the reasons) Lucas takes precedent over another Earthbound character. If a series has several main protagonists, then those protagonists are first call for SSB characters because they are the characters people play as. Replacing Lucas with Jeff would have been like replacing Roy with Shiida or some support character from the original Fire Emblem.

Since some members on the Ridley support thread are debating what type Ridley would be if he appeared in the Pokémon universe, I thought since Mewtwo is influence from Giegue from Mother 1. Would you consider Giegue just a Psychic type? or Psychic and Dark type because of his embodiment of evil role? would Giegue's level of PSI be able to effect Dark type Pokémon?

I see Giegue as just a Psychic type so.

PokéGiegue

Type - Psychic

Ability: Wonder Guard?

Possible Moves:

Psychic
Teleport
Barrier
Extrasensory
Miracle Eye
Recover
Special Rend
Calm Mind
Gravity
Psystrike
Cosmic Power
Light Screen
Psycho Boost
Safeguard
Judgment
Outrage
Amnesia

HP: 50
Attack: 120
Defense: 100
Sp.Atk: 200
Sp.Def: 100
Speed: 100
Total: 670

Not sure if I did the total part right.

Why do people think Lucas will NOT be in SSB4

Either you replace Lucas with another mother character (which no replacement makes sense) or you don't add another mother character (which REALLY bugs me) which would demean mother by giving it less reps than in brawl

Watch this video for full details on why Lucas IS going to be in SSB4

Ness, Lucas, and Porky all deserve to be in. It's not fully repped until you have someone like Porky who connects the two games. :)

I, MEGA BIDOOF, LEADER OF THE REVIVERS, SWORN SAVIORS OF THREADS THAT DONT GET THE ATTENTION THEY DESERVE, HEREBY REVIVE THIS THREEEEAAADDDD!!!!!!!

So, what do people think of the idea of Giygas' Mother 1 design AKA Gigue for Smash?

I also had this one idea for Porky.
You play as Porky with a backpack spider to move around. He is in mid-possession by Giygas, and is wearing his black and red suit.
It would be called Porky & Giygas, and would play similarly to Rosalina & Luma.
It would have Porky using physical tech based attacks, as also using Giygas' PSI attacks.

Not to burst your bubble or anything, because Doc-Ock Porky would be kinda neat, but he never had a backpack-spider thing in any of the Mother games. :troll:

Please no more mother reps. It's already over reped to be honest.

If they cut Lucas for a new one then ya I'm totally okay with that.

I actually thought Giygas would've been a really cool character, but his incomprehensibility nature makes him impractical. So with that, we're left with Claus or Porky.

Honestly, I don't really think either should be in (not because they aren't worthy, but because Mother already has enough reps). Rather, I think Ness and Lucas should just stay in and should have moveset modifications. Lucas needs some new specials, and PK Love and PK Rockin' should be Final Smashes considering PK Starstorm isn't even used by Ness or Lucas. Of course, we all know they will probably keep PK Starstorm anyway because its a unique FS among the rest.

Oh and they really gotta power up Ness' yo-yo.

Other than that, I just can't see any newcomers making it in, and at this point, we might be lucky if we even see Lucas return. Many people feel like he's going to be one of the first cuts (I personally think Falco, Jiggs and Snake will go first) if there are going to be any.

Giygas is not incomprehensible.
He has his mother 1 "Gigue" form.
I have a thread for it.

Yeah, thanks, but no thanks.

MOTHER has the dubious position of being the only Nintendo Franchise that is 100% dead and complete. Therefore, really, if there were any change to the MOTHER/Earthbound roster, it should be cutting characters, not adding them. There are plenty of other franchises with fewer characters -coughcoughMetroidDKcough- that would really enjoy having that extra slot, and by-all-means, they should get it before this relic.

Yeah, MOTHER's popular in Japan, but over here, it's about as popular as NiGHTS into Dreams. Never heard of it? Exactly. MOTHER, F-Zero, and Starfox are the series in Smash that I would, with no doubts, say are perfectly-well represented, and that's being extremely generous to MOTHER, who really shouldn't have more than one character for being a 3-game series from, two of which you can't even get in the states, and which has zero chance of getting another game.

For all intents and purposes, Ness should be considered a Retro character. "Oh, but there was Mother 3!" Yeah, and Mr. Game & Watch had a lot of games for the GameBoy Color, but he's still a retro character. It's cool that Earthbound is represented and all, but fans should really be happy that it has more reps than Metroid, which is insanely popular in the west and actually still relevant, and the same amount as DK, whose games are popular everywhere and are generally pretty amazing.

I don't think Mother is exactly competing for slots with DK and Metroid, though. That's kind of a distant point. A new rep probably isn't happening, yeah, but in the extremely unlikely case that Sakurai wanted to add a third Mother character he obviously wouldn't be doing it at the expense of a DK or Metroid character. The argument that precious character slots have to be preserved for certain characters works when talking about an individual series, but kind of loses its structure when applied to the roster as a whole. Sakurai can add characters wherever he pleases and still make room for more.

I believe more slots for major series are generally necessary before adding to minor ones, but no one's really arguing that Mother oughtta get a new rep while DK stays at two. We're talking about a larger roster than Brawl's. New reps for bigger series and new reps for smaller series can coexist.

I just recently finished Mother 3 and loved it (I'm currently working on finishing EarthBound), so I'm not opposed to the series getting another character. If Mother does get a new character, I would be cool with either Porky or Masked Man. Porky could round out the series by tying together Ness' and Lucas' games, and I think that Masked Man could have a very interesting moveset involving his sword, wings, and lightning attacks. Though, adding Masked Man without adding Porky might be over-representing Mother 3 if we keep Ness and Lucas. At the end of the day, I am open to either Masked Man or Porky, but only if we keep both Ness and Lucas.

Whelp. A lot has happened with Smash Bros in these past five months, but nothing in regards to Mother.

We still have the Franklin Badge and Mr. Saturn. I get the feeling there will be at least one Mother stage for each version of the game as well., and of course at least one represented. Since I'm a Ninten counter Ness/Lucas nihilist, I try not to voice my character preference. :b

I hope we will get Magicant this time, and mix the two to create one stage. It's an important place in two of the three games, and since it's so arcane in nature, the designers can do basically whatever they want with it.

Is it possible that Porky might return as an adventure-mode boss? He was the only boss in the SSE that I actually liked fighting, so I wouldn't mind his return.

Hopefully.

We know we need Smash Run bosses. For example, Kraid is slated to be one. I'd assume they can use them again for an adventure mode. Between versions no less, since you may as well use all of your programming and hard-work and just update the graphics.

So he can be used in Smash Run, Adventure Mode, and maybe even we'll get a Mother stage with him. We'll see.

I'd be okay with that.

Either that, or a stage boss on a Cave of the Past stage

Any newcomers people would like to see from the series?

We had a lot of Masked Man supporters back in Brawl days.

I always sorta wanted Flint for a character since the thread in Brawl days. Now Im thinking he would be hard to create a moveset for, so now I have a better idea. Create a Flint & Boney character like Rosalina and Luma. With some differences like a "Sic 'em" option. Thinking somewhat of a Galford and Poppie from the Samurai Showdown series.
But of course, when we are talking of more popular characters from the series. We should probably get the Masked Man, then Kumatora or Duster, then Porky (but in his spider mech from Mother 2, the "Doc Ock" designs I have seen around seem a bit out of character to me).

Really? I think Flint has more potential than a lot of the current newcomers would have had, if you take some inspirations from the Mother universe and generic cowboy stuff.

A nice hefty piece of lumber would be his weapon of choice, and could make for a very space-sensitive close-quarters combatant, who uses a number of pokes, prods and mighty swings to keep enemies out. A bullwhip can work as both a tether recovery and command grab, too. Then you have a massive library of one-use items from Mother 3; it also wouldn't be unreasonable to see him pull out some of Duster's more simplified tools.

From above, he can throw a cascade of wall staples down at his foes, trapping them in place. :)

That aside, I'd love to see Kumatora, I have so many ideas for how that character could play.

Tell me about it.

I played the game on the year it came out, still a kid. I'm all big and grown up now, but the memory of staying up into the darkest hours of the night to beat that game is something I can't forget. I must say the whole Giygas battle sequence will be etched into my mind forever. The intense visuals, disturbing text, and distorted sounds. I felt like I would never sleep again, but the ending of the game is very beautiful and therapeutic.

It is still an emotional game to play. Everything from the moment Ness sets out, to the eight Your Sanctuary locations, and of course the ending sequence. I hope Nintendo releases their official translation of Mother, since I found that game captured my heart as well.

Unfortunately when it comes to protagonists, I don't think any non-central party member will make it (anyone other than Ness\Lucas) because I feel that the developers would of added them earlier. However, I do think the antagonists have a chance (perhaps Mother 1 Giygas or Porky) with Masked Man being the most likely. I personally would love if any more Mother characters would make it(ANY of them).

Btw this is from my other post. I almost died when I saw this, but realized fast it wasn't actually masked man:

Finally, when someone says that Mother shouldn't have anymore reps please explain to me why. There is no reason for that kind of negativity really. I would understand if you don't believe they will get more reps or if there is enough to be fair to the franchise, but if you think it's a bad idea to give them more reps wtf?

Lol this is pure "I want my character so I don't care about others" fanboy bs. Super smash is made and released first in Japan. Popularity of a franchise is obviously going to be more important in Japan over US. Your entire opinion is based on "it's old" and "It's not popular in US" and honestly those aren't really relevant to your argument that they should cut characters. There is no reason to cut Lucas or Ness, but i'll agree that adding another Mother franchise character doesn't really have much of a chance or reason.
Btw the franchise does have a pretty nice following in the US:
Starmen net
and in Japan, Itoi (one of the main developers of Mother) is huge.

The internet, obviously.
I don't hang around much in character discussion, but I saw this thread and wanted to comment that the character I would want most is Ninten. He's the first protagonist, and completes the trio. And he can, contrary to popular belief, be 100% unique if they wanted him to be.

I normally just point to my signature, but I really want to repost this here. I wrote out a moveset for him for Project M, but it could just as easily work for any Smash game. There are even some rough sketches of a possible moveset. :bee:
Most importantly, he has a potentially unique moveset as the only PSI user with no directly offensive PK Attacks. His specials could instead be based around buffs and shields. Lucas now has Offense Up, of course, so he wouldn't necessarily use that but he could always use Quick Up to become faster for a while, or maybe have a temporary, limited version of Turbo Mode with it.

Then, he could have Power Shield instead of PSI Magnet. One way it could work is Power Shield blocks damage (but not knockback) from physical attacks and redirects some of the damage, but doesn't work on energy based attacks. Like PSI Magnet, he can't move while using it, though, so it isn't too overpowered against purely physical characters since he still takes knockback and can be sent flying while holding it. The other way is to only partially block damage.

His recovery could be his unique move 4th-D Slip, which in the original game allows him to escape from battles.

And, if he really needs an offensive special, he could have the PK attack unique to Earthbound Zero, PK Beam. Alternatively, there's a point in the game where he can get a Boomerang, and he has a Slingshots as well, which are both items the other Mother characters don't use.

Finally, he could also potentially use PSI Hypnosis, which puts enemies to sleep. I personally envision it as a chargeable version of Jigglypuff's sing that gains distance as it charges but loses effectiveness as it gets farther, but it could work in a multitude of ways.

The only problem I can foresee is his Final Smash, though he could borrow something from another character - or maybe PK Beam could be his Final Smash. The other possibility would be less direct, and more of an assist FS like Peach's. PSI Lifeup / Shields, which would heal him and give him temporary invincibility.

I realize his official artwork looks incredibly similar to Ness, but there is an alternative - in the original live action commercial, he wears another outfit that has been adapted in many fanart versions of him.

Plus, he could have a unique taunt where he coughs and uses his inhaler.
I was looking over my other post, and I realized I could probably have formatted my Ninten +1 reasoning more like the ones in the OP, so I decided to go on ahead and do that.

Ninten (Mother / EarthBound Zero)

Background/Reasons: The only main Mother character still not playable, and the star of the first game. Not a walking spoiler. To prevent him looking too similarly to Ness, he can wear his clothes from the live commercial rather than his official art.

Moveset: Quick Up (temporary speed increase), Power Shield (which blocks physical rather than energy attacks), PSI Hypnosis (like Jigglypuff's Sing), 4th-D Slip (Teleports), and PK Beam (Unique to Earthbound Zero) are ideal techniques, though he also has a boomerang and a slingshot.

As a Final Smash, he could have either PK Beam or a combination of PSI Life Up and a number of Shields that would heal him completely and give him temporary invulnerability. Maybe add some buffs like Offense Up and Quick Up to make him faster and stronger during this period a la Wario Man. Finally, he could have Brain Cyclone as a Final Smash, which would work in three waves radiating from him. The first would spike characters it hits down, the second would stun them, and the third would have large knockback.
The main thing I was thinking could be done to help differentiate him (other than his specials) was that he could use his items (like the bat, yoyo and boomerang) in more than just his smashes, unlike the others, and perhaps use them in different ways for his smashes. This makes sense from a standpoint of gameplay (making him more unique) and of character (because Ninten doesn't naturally learn offensive PSI like PK Rockin or PK Love, so he relies more on his tools).

So maybe his fair is a meteor with him smashing the enemy downwards with his bat. Maybe his f-smash has him swing his yoyo in a circle that goes all the way around him. Maybe he can use his yoyo as a tether grab and use it to throw people. All in all, he has many ways his normals could be pretty unique.

His specials can revolve around his ability to buff himself, deal status effects, and can also optionally give him the Mother 1-exclusive attack PK Beam (which I envision as a white, slower version of a Spacie blaster with a lot of Hitstun and prehaps an electric effect). He could also use PSI Hypnosis (which would act like Jigglypuff's Sing with the ability to charge the attack for greater distance), PSI Quick Up (which would work like Lucas' Offense Up, but would increase his speed instead of his power), and 4th-D Slip (which is his signature ability and would act as his recovery, allowing him to teleport).

His Final Smash has a couple of options. The easiest and most obvious are PK Beam Ω (a greatly powered up PK Beam), or as someone else suggest PSI Brainshock or Brain Cyclone, which could act in a number of ways depending on how it was implemented.

So, here is how I would personally assign his specials:

B: Quick Up - When fully charged, this increases Ninten's speed temporarily. This could manifest in a number of different forms, whether it be attack speed, running speed, falling speed - that's up to PMBR to decide, I suppose. Another idea was that it could act as a short-lived Turbo Mode.

Down B: Hypnosis - Ninten sends out a radial wave of PSI that can put enemies on the ground to sleep, and possibly make them go into a damage fall in the air.

Side B: PK Beam - Ninten sends out a ray of white energy with lots of hitstun.

Up B: 4th-D Slip - A teleportation technique that has Ninten go into a dimensional portal and come out of it elsewhere.

Final Smash: PK Beam Ω or Brain Cyclone. PK Beam Ω is obvious in its uses - it's a powerful beam, enough said really. The suggestion for Brain Cyclone was rather interesting. The person who suggested it came up with the idea that it would work in three waves radiating from him, like Tabuu's Off Waves. The first would spike characters it hits down, the second would stun them, and the third would have large knockback.

His taunts can involve him playing his Ocarina (the first part of the Eight Melodies?), coughing and using his inhaler, or adjusting his hat or bandana.
Here they are, finally scanned them and put them together. They're a bit rough because I rushed them, but I hope you guys like them as much as when I described them with just words. I'm open to suggestions, even if I probably won't draw them out (too much time :p)

:ness2:Isn't that ness?:ness2:
No it's not!

Ninten, the boy with asthma, the boy who wears a scarf, the boy THATS NOT IN SMASH BROTHERS. The main character of the First mother series, he pretty much follows the standard of the other two protagonists while looking strikingly similar to that of Ness. They function nearly the same and are mostly separated by their differences in their stories.

However, Ninten has the potential to bring a unique weapon onto the field of battle, while providing its own quirks and differentiating him from Ness and Lucas.

His Yo yo.

I don't actually know much about mother so let's just get into the character shall we?
As Ninten has asthma, it should be no surprise that he has a slower running speed than Lucas or Ness (Not really but just go with it) His jump should reach a balance between Lucas' and Ness' jump while having a balance of their fall speed as well.

Main core of the character? Disjointed ranged attacks. A dangerous thought already. Wielding good options for pressuring enemies from a relatively safe distance in his Yo-Yo, he would not be unlike marth in the sense that spacing is key. He forgoes his bat entirely to make good use of his Yo-yo while not having to put it away.

Moves

  • Jab : Up to two throws of the yo-yo straight forward. second one going a bit longer than the first one.
  • Ftilt : Spin's and "slices" horizontally with the Yo-Yo. Relatively fast move.
  • Dtilt : Throws the yo-yo at the opponents feet in a curve, causing a trip upon a successful hit. Trip's them in place, does not send them away from Ninten. relatively long start up to where it's easily projected to the enemy. However, it has extremely short end lag so that it can be punished heavily for getting hit by it.
  • Utilt : throws yo-yo straight up at a pretty fast rate. Good damage and knockback. Can be held out similar to Ness' down smash by holding A. causes a flinch similar to falco's blaster when hit by the held yo-yo.
  • Fsmash : Throws the Yo-Yo straight ahead. Able to be angled 45 degrees upward and downward similar to ganon's or roy's Ftilts. Able to be held out in place after the smash by holding A. Initial hit is strong and pushes enemies away in the direction that the attack was launched while the subsequent hit's have knockback similar to wolf blaster. Good for Edge guarding and shield pressure. Fair endlag
  • Usmash : Exactly like ness' Usmash. When hit it sends enemies above Ninten. Can be held before the smash is thrown like Ness'
  • Dsmash : Spins around with the Yo-yo in a fashion similar to that of Roy's Dsmash. Cannot be held out
  • Nair : As proposed by @ Shin F. Shin F. it would be similar to Ness' Nair but with increased range due to the yo-yo.
  • Uair : Arc from in front of Ninten to behind him, similar to that of Wolf's Uair albeit with increased range. Good for setting up as it doesn't have much knockback but does stun a good amount. Ala Roy.
  • Dair : Throw the Yo-Yo Straight downwards. It's a spike but not a very strong one.
  • Fair : Spins and slices horizontally with the Yo-yo just like Ftilt, but with much more power while being a bit slower. Should have solid killing potential.
  • Bair : Similar to Toon Link's Bair. Sending the Yo-yo in an arc from the bottom of the feet to the top of the head, it sends enemies higher into the air. Relatively fast.
I have no idea how to work out his B attacks (Special attacks) so someone should send me a PM about it so I can work it in. I'm considering giving him a tether recovery via yo-yo over the usual PK thunder.)

I'm still considering his Wavedash length, tech roll lengths and other such things but I don't have much to say about that stuff yet. I also haven't thought about how his grabs would work but they definitely involve grabbing with the Yo-yo.

:ness64:I think there is good potential here as well.:ness64:
What about you?

Would it be terribly offensive if I suggested that PSI Brain Cyclone could function similarly to Luigi's FS? I do realize there's the originality factor (which is a bit more of a factor considering a FS is more of an aesthetic feature) but I'll mention it anyways.
I was thinking it could simply cause immediate stun to any character in the radius for the duration of the move (it makes the enemy "feel strange," right?) unlike Luigi's, which just throws random things at random intervals and spikes Physics' drink, among other things. A proper tradeoff could be that there isn't any difference in KB within the Brain Cyclone, but every move induces a significant "paralyzer" effect (same as ZSS dsmash, about), allowing Ninten to go crazy with the combos for a while. Come to think of it though, paralyzer mechanics don't allow the effect to chain, so a workaround might be needed.
I hadn't thought about that, but it's actually quite brilliant. I like it. I could imagine the effects causing a prolonged stunning effect. That would be pretty cool.

I have another idea. What if the technique actually decreased knockback drastically for most of the duration, then increases it greatly just before the end? So, Ninten can get in a ton of combos without much knockback to knock the enemies away, and then at the end he can send them flying with increased knockback. It may sound OP, but it is a Final Smash, after all.

Edit: I want this as one of his yoyo attacks now. Maybe his Up-Smash.

The maximum was still 2. Break that record and give 3 reps.

Adding more PSI users would be dumb when the series really has a lot more variety than that. Only half of all the playable characters in the series actually used PSI (Ninten, Ana, Ness, Paula, Poo, Lucas and Kumatora vs. Loid, Teddy, Jeff, Flint, Duster, Boney and Salsa) and I've said before how I don't like the over-representation of this category. One of the battle-item users like Jeff or Duster would be a better addition because they represent a more unique aspect of the series.

They could tweak his design though, like how he looked like in the commercial for Mother 1:

I'd love for Ninten to make it in, therefore we'd have one rep from each Mother installment so he'd complete the necessary cycle for Mother reps.
That would actually be really cool. He could also have a different PSI power than Ness or Lucas, and he could be faster and more agile.
