I've been playing around with Snake a bit and the only way I know to do his mortar slide is run c stick up+z. Are there any other ways?

If you're talking about the DAC upsmash, then yes. You can always do a running upsmash with run>up-c

The way I do it doesn't require as much dexterity or skill, and is much more chainable.

It's basically the same, but with modifications.

1.) Dash

2.) C-stick down

3.) At any time before the "peak" of snake's roll, rotate the c-stick from down to left or right toward up while rotating the controller-stick from the dash direction to up, and press z.

The c-stick is no longer required, and the smash can be charged by holding z. Doing this, I can perform a mortar glide with no quick hand movement, and I never miss.

The way I do it is to do a dash attack then upsmash all with the joystick. But to do this you need to be crazy fast. Buuut if you do this method, it opens the option to b-stick (which I do).

Or you could just dash attack and Z+Up.

I personally changed L to attack. I then tap for dash, c-stick down, and immediately smash up on the analog stick and hit L. While I doubt most would prefer this, I find this way to be the easiest for me and doesn't remove any functionality since I can just use R for shielding and dodging anyway.
