If Ryu runs of the stage and then immediately side bs into the stage, he won't immediately grab the edge and because of this the hit box will stay active for a short time. This can either stage spike or just hit away any enemies attempting to recover. This isn't always the best option, for example at higher percents it would be more optimal to just fair, but it is often the safest. Not sure how helpful this will be in a game against a person, but it's definitely an option.
