my buddy uses toon link a lot and when i am edge guarding against him i usually use dair to keep him off and but his up-b seems to get me quite a bit ...is this more of a timing issue or should i use a whole new approach

use shutte loop

It goes through just about everything and will kill him or gimp him easily off stage. Just dont kill yourself

he usually does it below the stage though and doing the shuttle loop below the stage seems a bit costly

LOL

recovering below the stage vs. mk is retarted. Do the shutte loop facing the stage and you'll get an easy stage spike kill

Lol ok try this.

As he's recovering his hitbox is diagonal with an open spot on his back. Jump over him as he's coming up and dair him at that spot. It should send him into the stage for a stage spike.

If he techs it immediately shuttle loop him to stage spike him again and grab the edge. It's extremely hard to tech the 2nd stage spike because teching the dair usually keeps them stuck to the edge so the 2nd tech has to be spot on. If they manage to pull that off they deserve to live. :p

Best advice, as to be expected from Broken Arrow on this topic. You can do the Dair from the greatest distance when facing the opposite way they are. It seems to spike better, too.

Lol. With 5 air jumps and multiple recovery options, a bomb or boomerang isn't gonna do much and can be very easily avoided.

if u start geting hit DI up and away i think

i usually dair TL up b in that diagnal un covered place on his back while hes rising. and like dojo said shutloop right after. impossible to recover cuz it sends the opponent into a double stage spike shock O_O

As Dojo said TLs even if you throw a bomb, ALWAYS hold a bomb when recovering vs a MK. MK can gimp us so easy with the advice Dojo gave, often times a bomb save is our only option. I'm not saying don't chuck something at the stage on your way towards it either, everything can help (when not used to the point of predictability, of course), but if you're going under and you know it, pull out a bomb as early as possible. The closer the explosion gets you to eye-level with the ledge the better.
