I'm not sure if you know, but Pikmin can have leaves, buds, or flowers, and the Reds', Blues', and Yellows' buds and flowers are white, while the Purple and Whites' are purple.
However, this could change for Brawl, assuming your source is correct.
But... Pikmin don't really reproduce. >_>

It's just an idea. But what else could those two pikmen on Lylat be doing?

Okay I think I found my flaw. The pikmen are just holding on to each other to prevent them from falling from that high up.

No. You cannot mix breed them. I am sure.
Pikman are derived from Pikman 1 and 2. In these games, Pikman were produced by feeding pellets to saucer like things called onyens which spewed out bulbs which grow into pikman. There is no polination.
Also, how could that even be facilitated in a fighter game like brawl?
Interesting idea for the next pikman game, but silly question for brawl.
