Don't worry, Missiles won't be as necesary as they were in Melee, they were really nerfed.
Nevertheless, the landing has almost no lag, not as fast as Missile Cancel, but really fast.
Samus is going to be more offensive this time, she got an incredible all-new short hop.

haha. yeah...a friend of mine was accusing me of not being able to short-hop with Samus, and i just had to laugh. "That is her short-hop, dammit! ...it just goes really high."

good news, indeed.

What?? I will actually have to learn how to short hop Samus now? lame.

Missiles arent cancellable, but they have much better trajectory and knockback than you see in the old videos. They can kill in Sudden Death, which I guess is something...and once you get them over 100% the missiles become a major pain for your opponents.

Missiles are not a good reason to drop Samus, we will all miss the awesome tricks (especially since we *just* came up with the lowrider...or whatever its being called these days :p), but her missiles are still very useful, and the addition of a short hop sounds really promising.

Samus is going to be better with this new Short Hop, I consider it a great buff, I see a great aerial game with Samus this time.

As far as I've been inquiring, Missile Cancel is still in.

I wonder if the nuetral A air attack still has ridiculous priority. and also if you can do double bomb recovery? only a month till i find out i guess.

The priority felt good. It still can go through recoveries (though the magnet-hands to the ledge makes it harder to hit things mid recovery sometimes), but the knockback is very small. As in, does not knock them off the stage in sudden death small.

You can use bombs to recover, but it wont be long before smart players realize that Samus gets locked into bomb mode when doing it now and abuses it. Regardless, you dont really need it because Samus is so floaty, she can recover from above anywhere.

Dyna - Short hop? It honestly looked the same to me as melee in gameplay (though her full jump is higher than it once was). And, how were people saying missile cancel worked? You cant cancel your lag with landing lag like you did in melee anymore, thats for sure.

This time? Samus already had good aerial game...
She has a good aerial game in Melee, very certain, but in Brawl, she gets the "new and improved" aerial game, now she's great, not only good.

I've been watching videos in U2B, and yes, Missile Cancel is back, this is very good news for dinamic play, sad missiles are nerfed.

This new short-hop will bring a new game to Samus, to actually spam aerial attacks with great speed, was achievable in Melee with Bomb Jump (which is now achievable without bomb jump), but was too predictable.

I see what you mean on the short hop. I still think its the same height as before...but it looks so much more mobile somehow, which is great.

Missile Cancelling Is In!

When you touch the floor right after doing the first missile you can do another one right after that with no apparent lag or leftover animation from the initial missile.

That's essentially what missile cancelling is...

Done

Platform cancelling is near impossible though with normal missiles due to Samus shorthopping too high. She no longer shorthops on par with most stages' platforms. I did find that you can set off homing missiles while running off a platform and dropping, but not the normal ones. The normal missiles take too long to come out. And Dyna why do you feel the missiles have been nerfed...? They seem just as effective to me... *_~ except they come out slower so in terms of practicality they may have been nerfed but the effectiveness is pretty much still there when they do hit.

If I recall correctly there damage also has been nerfed, same with knockback. I've seen plenty of movies where a missile didnt kill a mario who had 100% In melee, that mario would either been dead, or getting a long way back.

in melee, you can platform cancel on battlefield and dreamland with a quick double jump. depending on her second jump, that might still work in brawl. kind of slow in melee, but the speed may work out in brawl

Really? I've never been able to pull that off. I can only platform cancel with short hops in Yoshi's Story and Pokemon Stadium.

u can do super missles while running off a platform and dropping, it's hard and you have to do it almost instantaneously when u run off

i've been doing this all the time with samus but yeah Missle canceling is in, i've been spamming missles to comboes and smashes all day
