Man, if I get Isaac as a character everything is forgiven in my eyes.
Come on people, please, don't get my hopes up like this. It will hurt so bad when the truth comes out...
Anyway, it is strange that Ridely is nowhere in Smash 3DS and I would hope that means he has a more significant role that only the Wii U version would reveal. Metriod is a larger Nintendo franchise then most and to not have anything about a major recurring boss is...curious to say the least.
As it stands, Smash 3DS is the only Smash game to not feature Ridley.
My guess is that according to Sakurai on the dropped Ice Climbers, no priority was given to series without a future installment coming. And considering how Dark Dawn did...
I'm with you on this, I wanted Isaac in Smash in some form, but this is kind of strange.
To be completely honest, my knowledge of Isaac goes as far as his Japanese name being Robin, that's it. My own personal take on characters is that it's the unique playstyles and gameplay that's important, not the characters. I just tend to get a bit curious about things, and considering the amount of people who wanted Isaac, and the fact I remember him as an assist trophy, it just seems odd that he's not even a trophy for the 3DS version.
It's also worth noting that it seems the "priority" argument only really applied to playable characters, and I think it was really just an excuse to dampen the whole loss of the Ice Climbers.
In fact, I also don't think that the priority argument works in any case, as the series is still very relevant. From what I can tell (I'm seriously just reading up on this) the most recent game only hit the market in 2010, and whilst it wasn't as good as the previous games, it certainly wasn't Sonic 2006 bad. In fact, from what I can find it was quite well received even. With him being a highly requested newcomer, and a prior assist trophy, there is seriously no reason whatsoever that he'd be downgraded (particularly with so many new assist trophies) and even if he was Wii U exclusive, he'd have still had a trophy judging by the other "Wii U only" assist trophies having standard trophies on the 3DS.
The whole situation just doesn't add it, and that is interesting. I have no idea what it means, but it is interesting.
