Its amusing how you post this in this forum, yet none of the stops are even in the area.

Salt Lake City Utah is a definite stop, I forgot to mention that there is a vote underway to select the September locations...

I was about to mention that.

I just got off the phone with a MGC rep (story coming later), and there are no California stops planned.

HOWEVER, we can vote for the final four cities to host events. Right now, Bay Area is 4th, LA is 6th and Bakersfield (wtf) is 7th.

So if we want it, we need to vote for it.

I looked into it a little more deeply and I discovered the following post, statements in square brackets are mine:

"Thanks for the suggestions. I am also open to working with the community to make MGC better.

1. I have been told that for legal reasons, we have to remain consistent for all qualifiers. We will use the existing setup [HD TV's, which lag] for all of the qualifiers. We will have tube TVs for the finals [CRT TV's, which do not].

2. We will consider double elimination for 2008. Again, we cannot change at this point [The tourney is single elimination].

3. Qualifiers will continue to be seeded randomly. Maybe in 2008, we can form a smash board that can help with seeding [EVO West, anyone?].

For the finals, I will place each of the winners from the same city in a different quarter of the bracket.

4. We will need to keep the current rules through the qualifiers but may be able to update them for the finals.

Thanks for your suggestions."

I am by no means trying to encourage people to avoid this tournament should it come around, but I wanted to let everyone know what they are getting, which is, while free, a single-elim, randomly-seeded tournament on HD (laggy) TV's. However it seems like they are determined to get their act together for 2008 so I am very hopeful for this next year with Brawl.
