Mewtwo's Spoon

Okay I was looking through Mewtwo's .pac file when I came across a file labelled "M2Spoon." When previewing the model it was indeed a model of a spoon. After doing a bit of research I learned that it is a reference the Mewtwo in the Pokemon Adventures manga who wielded a giant spoon. Now my question is what is the point of the spoon? Is it just an easter egg or can it actually be use in-game?

actually there IS a spoon, i don't remember if it was his MotionEtc or FitMewtwo.pac
but theres' an animation for the model as well, which twists the spoon back and forth
