Am I the only one wondering if they are going to make anymore 2d metroid games? I loved fusion and am playing through it again and then I am going to play through zero mission. I also need to get my hands on super metroid. I don't really care for 3d metroid games. I can't play them for more than 10 minutes. Why can't they continue to make 2d and 3d metroid games? They do that with mario and it works fine.

For 3d, Prime 1 blows me away. Don't know why I haven't bought it yet.

I suggest they merge the two. Make a Metroid game rendered in complete 3D, but in a 2D game format (like SSE).

I don't know--the conversion to 3D on handhelds was stupid. If you think Fusion is awesome (I've replayed the game 20-30 times), you'll love Super Metroid. It's much more difficult, but much more awesome.

I prefer 2D. Prime 1 was great, and 2 and 3 were pretty good, but Hunters was awful and the more recent 2D games were great. (maybe this makes me a bad Metroid fan, but I wasn't a huge fan of either of the first two. The fact that every time you revive on the first Metroid, you start with only 30 HP makes it really difficult, and 2 is sort of boring. Although I get the impression the general consensus is that 2 wasn't all that great.) Super Metroid is said EVERYWHERE to be one of, if not the, best games of all time. So why aren't they listening? Beats me.

and like new super mario bros as well. but honestly I am not sure if I would want that. When I first saw new super mario bros I thought it was cool what they did, but later on realized I would have preferred it in 2d graphics. I am curious as to how this would work with metroid though, and wouldn't mind seeing one, as long as it is strictly 2d gameplay. Also, the thing I don't like is when they make games like those the graphics sometimes can be a little choppy and they could've stuck to 2d graphics and it would've been nice and clean.

I'm not thinking about a DS game, I'm talking about a Wii title. It would look beautiful on the Wii.

Seeing as how the Metroid Prime games are some of the worst, over-rated console FPS's and a complete destruction of a good platform game, I would love to see a new 2D Metroid. None of this Zero Mission or Fusion crap either.

Aside from that, Metroid has always been one of my lesser favorite Nintendo franchises. The original is one of the best on the NES, and I've only ever felt like playing Super Metroid all the way through twice. I've tried more times, but I get bored after about an hhalf-an-hour each day.

Personally, I thought Metroid Prime was really well done for a game being rendered 2d-3d. It wasn't a failure and it was even far from being. I doubt they'll go back to 2d platform like SM, and it's already on VC anyway. I just think that they're gonna continu with what they are doing now with metroid prime which I like a lot.

What's you guys best time in super metroid? Mine is 1h05. I do speed runs of this game, but I can't beat the world record which is I think 45-55mins something like that.

Don't worry, Metroid's my all-time favorite franchise and yet I think the first Metroid sucks.
