Do you think that the locals, characters, and any other Metroid Prime related content should be considered in Brawl? So far, we've seen yet another ebb and flow lava level which is from Metroid and Super Metroid. It's strange that Metroid always has to carry the burden of being the "hot" level when there are so many other locales in the universe that a battle could take place. There was a point when I would have said: "None quite so memorable as Planet Zebes.", but the Metroid Prime series was so good, I wouldn't mind seeing maybe the Tallon Overworld or Phenandra Drifts make an appearance. Unfortunately, I'm afraid we won't see Phenandra because having two ice levels might cramp the Ice Climbers style.

Also, the Prime series introduced new Hunters that could double as playable characters. While I'm not too keen on this idea, it still opens doors. Hunters like Rundas with his Silver Surfer style. He has a lot of playable potential. And there is Spire who could play like a heavy character; a spikey morph ball that could climb walls would be quite nifty indeed. Trace could also be great for 4 player frays; whilest the other 3 duke it out, Trace could use his stealth 'n snipe to shoot his opponents.

Costumes based on Samus' new armour upgrades may be cool. Rather than just the gravity suit and 3 other colour swaps, Samus could dawn the Light Suit, the P.E.D. suit, the infected Power Suit (black and orange), stuff like that.

Your thoughts?

well, she's already wearing the phazon suit as an alternate costume. everything else (like the power suit) seems to be modeled after Zero Mission.

prime isn't really all that popular in japan, you know. i wouldn't expect too much.

From what I understand, Prime is a prequel to the Metroid and Super Metroid games so it would seem that Sakurai is leaning towards later developed character elements of Samus.

Plus, the Prime series is << the originals.

Oh right, I forgot, Retro Studios is American.

Still though, Prime was one of the most successful and respected games for the Gamecube (in America), so you'd think after adding Mario's Super Soaker and The Bridge of Eldin that they'd consider Samus's mid-life crisis.

You're right though about the character design dealie. Along with the Zero Suit, Zero Mission seems to be a heavy influence on Brawl. I guess it's just wishful thinking, there's no sign yet and there probably won't be.

Besides the Phazon Suit and (I think) the morph ball design, there really in nothing from Prime.

To be fair, Zero Mission was inspired by the eerie green lines in Primes armor, you can kind of tell. The Phazon coloring is a nice nod. A Phendrana level would have been cool, but the Summit kind of defeats the need for another ice level. Who knows what form of Ridley we'll see, he has been
-Blue (Fusion)
-Purple (melee, others?)
-Reddish (Super)
-Metal (Prime)
-Dark colors (Prime 3)
-Rust (Zero mission)

So who really knows how he'll look. If anything his alt colors will be easy to fill.

There really doesn't seem to be much from the prime games in this...but I would kill for a good Brinistar themed stage. That area was so nice. Or even go with something really creative and try to make an underwater (maridia) stage, Ive already heard theres a swim mechanic....

God, I'd love to see a Prime stage. Some of those environments are so amazing.

I have a really strong feeling there will be an Aether/Dark Aether stage. It'll cycle through them, with the "Dark" forcing the Brawlers to to fight under those light producing...things. Forget the name.

I agree with you, the light beacons / crystals. Else you would slowly take percent as if you were in the magnification glass. It'd be great if Dark Samus were the one instigating the portals, appearing from her blue powder and creating portals.

It would also be great if the dark world sort of muted or distorted whatever music in the level you were listening to at the time.

I actually forgot that an American company created the Prime series. It'd be too bad if it didn't get much representation in Brawl, because it's what first got me interested in this person known as Samus Aran, and it'd be cool to have that nostalgic feeling. A Prime stage would be awesome. Chozo Ruins, Tallon Overworld, the Artifact Temple, Dark Aether, or even Sanctuary Fortress would just be too cool.

More Prime influence would be grand. And is highly possible, assuming Meta-Ridley or Omega Ridley are a boss.

I say this assuming that Sakurai is not stupid and makes regular Ridley a playable character.

But as others said. Prime isn't as popular over in Japan. We can remain hopefully. Metroid did have two levels in Melee after all, so it may get another one yet.

What we need is a SkyTown stage, that would be freaking sweet. Plus the random robots could come in at certain times and do damage to you. One problem is that it would be a bit too much like Battleship Halberd.

Is that a Prime 3 area? Haven't seen it yet.

A Sanctuary Fortress stage would be cool; my jaw dropped when I saw it the first time (it was so cool looking!)

I completly agree with you...I was hoping to see Samus on her prime-custum suit, but I got relly dissapointed when I saw that floaty Samus suit again. And what do u think about Dark Samus beeing on brawl?!!! It would be asome to see the conter and enemy of Samus, just like Fox and Falco (exept that they aren't enemies)!! And I 've to admit that Dark Samus is my favorite boss from Nintendo!!!

Any real Prime influence in Brawl would be amazing. I agree that Phendrana Drifts and dark Aether could make for some sweet arenas. But the Metroid Stage has had so many beautiful locales, almost anything would do.
But does Metroid Prime not being popular in Japan really mean anything? I mean, does Smash really sell more copies over there than North America or Europe?
