METAL MARIO!!!

Series: Super Mario
First Appearance: Super Mario 64
Latest appearance: Mario Tennis Open

INTRODUCTION
Metal Mario is a powered up form of Mario that first appeared in the game Super Mario 64. Metal Mario is tougher, stronger, and heavier, and has a "under water" like voice. This form is acquired by picking up the Metal Cap from green ! Blocks or Metal Boxes.

A Metal Mario character appeared in the original Super Smash Bros. as a boss. This was the first time he appeared presumably as a separate entity until Mario Kart 7. The sequel, Super Smash Bros. Melee also featured this permanently metal plumber as well as a separate Luigi character as bosses. In Classic Mode of both Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl, a character in metal form will always be one of the selected challengers.

In Super Smash Bros., Metal Mario is a mid-boss encountered before the game's final boss. Like the Fighting Polygons, he has his own stage. He is far less powerful, and is susceptible to much more damage than in Super Mario 64. Nevertheless, he is a much more durable character than the regular Mario. Heavier and more resistant to knockback in general than any other character in the game, he's very difficult to beat. In fact, only when Metal Mario's damage exceeds 180% can he be knocked down.

Appearing as a Special Character in Rosters

Though not traditional and rather rare, Metal Mario has appeared as a special character in rosters as a reward for achieving something great in the game.Metal Mario is an unlockable playable character in Mario Golf for the Nintendo 64. He boasts the strongest drives from his set of clubs and is usually the last character to be unlocked by collecting ALL 180 Birdie Badges.

In Dr. Mario 64., Metal Mario can be unlocked as a playable character by beating the entire Story Mode with Wario without losing once.

Metal Mario's long awaited return happens as an unlock able playable character in the Nintendo 3DS title Mario Kart 7 and is unlocked by winning the 150cc Special Cup. He is a Heavy class character, with an advantage bonus of weight and some speed.

Metal Mario returns in Mario Tennis Open as a QR Downloadable Character. His type in this game is Power, and his voice is a warbled variation of Mario's voice. He is the final QR Downloadable Character. He is also the only QR Downloadable character that is not a Yoshi. He is the strongest character in the game with the fastest serves.

Mario has so many power ups, so having Metal Mario as a power up would be quite an awesome addition to people who are a fan of it. Being able to be Metal Mario full time instead of a power up like people wish to do in the original Smash 64. He would be unlocked maybe by completing Classic Mode with all other characters.

In conclusion a neat idea, most definitely not gonna happen, but if you like Metal Mario support him anyway.
:p

METAL BOXES

There'd be none so shut up! :p

If I recall correctly, you had made a Metal Mario thread a few weeks back, right?

Only way this would be remotely acceptable to me would be if the Metal Box was gone and he emulated some of Dr. Mario's style while having properties Doc was intended to have, such as heavy weight and slow speed.

Biggest downside is that since he'd just be another semi-clone of Mario like Luigi is, and since he's a copy of Mario "covered with gold silver paint", he would not go over well with people. At all.

As much as I like Metal Mario, I would hate to see him as part of the roster in SSB4. There are so many other characters more deserving than him. I also don't think that they will remove the Metal Box just to make him playable.

He'll be the most rage inducing addition ever! And I'll be the only one okay with people being pissed about his addition. :troll:

This.

But I would totally dig it if they implement a Metal Cap as part of Mario's moveset like in Brawl Minus. :D That was quite awesome.
And also introduced more strategy to Mario's gameplay.

I thought I was the only one that secretly loved Metal Mario. He's my favorite Mario Character.

Still up Peach's dress.
Can't we just bring back "Metal Battle" as a Final Destination soundtrack? That's all I really want from Metal Mario aside from a token Adventure Mode appearance.

That track is probably my favourite Smash bros. Melee theme.

(although I learnt something new from this thread; I had no idea Metal Mario was in Dr. Mario 64)

I like this idea a lot... all they need to do is replace the Metal Box with the Invisible Box and everything will be good...

Metal Mario is an awesome, powered-up version of Mario. But he's just a version than Mario, even moreso than Dr. Mario. Just grab the Metal Box powerup and, voila! You're playing as Metal Mario already. I don't see a need to give him his own character slot.

Metal Mario would be one of the VERY few clone type characters I could get behind. Still, there are plenty of other Mario characters who are higher priority. I'd be curious to see how he'd work though. His weight and physics would probably be the most interesting facets of his gameplay.

Not completely against the idea of an alternate Mario. I would rather have Doctor Mario though. Even if Metal Mario is cooler. If Doc comes back, I'd like to see him act like the Akuma to Mario's Ryu and Luigi's Ken.

He could easily be put as a palette swap to Mario IMO. But if he were to be included, would the Metal Box item be omitted?
