Metal Gear Solid 2 plot discussion *MGS2, MGS3 and MGSPO SPOILERS*

There is something that has been bothering me since the first time I finished MGS2. I would appreciate if someone can explain it to me.

1) The Rose you speak to in the game is real or she was always GW?

2) The twelve people that Otacon found in the disc was it really the Patriots or the Philosophers?

3)Am I correct to assume that when Ocelot said "Mr. President" in the tank chapter he was talking to President Johnson?

I put MGS3 and MGSPO spoilers in the title of the topic because the discussion will probably lead to those games if we continue to talk about the patriots, which I still have some questions, but I want these answered first.

There is already a MGS2 topic, but I will answer your questions anyway.

1. Yes. However, she gets cut off and replaced with the JFK AI after she tells Raiden she is pregnant. THe Rose Raiden sees at the ending is real.

2. The Philosophers. THe data says they are dead due to the fact that is the data of the original Philosophers.

3. No. He was talking to George Sears, A.K.A. Solidus.

Actually, if you want to go deeper into it, it's still left ambigous about her being real or just imagined. That is, if you want to go really deep into it.

Her inclusion in MGS4 pretty much spells out "she's real" though.

Rose is real, but GW imitates her
The Philosophers are the precursors of the Patriots, probably different members though
Ocelot was talking to Solidus, as he was once the President.

Well, but when Ocelot talks again to Solidus he either refers to him as King or Solidus. Also you should remember that as Snake said, Solidus was keeping a low profile at the moment. Another thing is that he was given the Cipher by the Patriots to incriminate Snake.
