I discovered this while training.
Metaknights a down is good because its so fast, but it only goes one direction. Metaknights down smash hits all around.
What I figured is that if you are crouching and use the C- stick you still do your regular down A attack. I got this idea from my oboe lessons because there is more than one fingerings in one note, while switching notes you use the closer fingerings to your note you are playing next.
So if someone is behind you stand up really quick then use C-stickdown down then go down really fast the person will get knoed away and you can chang position.
The only thing if you up against really fast characters like Sonic or Shiek the lag time might not give you enough time to change position.
It might seem n00bish because you use the C- stick but it still works. Trust me, I tried
