Well it could be 2 things

1. Shield cancel fsmash - Run then tap shield to cancel your dash and fsmash out of shield. This allows you to travel considerable distance and then smash attack.

2. Stutter Step - Dash and then immediately smash attack. This allows you to space your move by moving away slight . The smash attack must be performed during the initial dash animation.

Yeah, both those methods make you slide a wee bit forward while fsmashing. The slide is noticable, but I don't think its that significant.

The shield cancel is very useful, not necessarily for the slide slide at the end but for the fact that it gives u even more options from a dash.

stutter step is when you input both sticks in the same direction right?

what is this called when you dash back and f smash? it puts some distance between your opponent , i find it useful

If you dash forward, turn around while you run and use a (reversed) fsmash with the c-stick sometime during animation MK turns you'll slide about the distance Diddy glide tosses, so I guess that's another possibility.
