Meta Knight: The Kirby universe's greatest... fist fighter?

Meta Knight now wears metal plating on his gloves. Is this just an aesthetic upgrade, or does this hint at a more physical approach for our flying swordsman?

Gives the game a sense of verisimilitude- he is certainly already cartoonish enough.

I'm pretty sure it's just for show, honestly I think fist fighting Meta Knight would be a huge downgrade because he'd have less range, if anything, Knuckle Joe would be the fist fighter of the Kirby series if he ever made it into a Smash Bros roster.
