Merging the 3DS and WiiU General Discussions

It's maybe been a while coming. We aren't entirely set in doing this yet, so if there are some perspectives from those who would be against it that could sway us, by all means.

Right now in the Smash4 section we have a lot of redundancy, a lot of boards can house the same threads and honestly many do. When it comes to the nature of the 3DS section, it has a lot of traffic redirecting to the WiiU section resulting in a slower paced forum with very few active threads that differentiate itself from other boards.

I'm not sure exactly when we're thinking of going through with this, but "soon".

If the general discussion threads are going to be merged, the 3DS and Wii U solo mode sub-forums would still have to be separated, since Smash 3DS has Smash Run, while Smash Wii U has Special Orders.

And of course, Classic Mode operates differently between the two games, especially when it comes to challenge objectives.

I was honestly thinking about this for a while. In all honesty I feel this is for the better; the Wii U General is the main attraction 80% of the time while the 3DS General is only active in a few threads, but still not enough to be the most active. The redirected threads were just the beginning, and to be absolutely fair, they've always been like this since the games' announcements: barely active. I cannot think of any thread the 3DS subforum has that is active daily.

In general, the 3DS boards are not active 100% of the time, so merging them with the Wii U boards removes the clutter space that both of them have. The 3DS boards seem like a empty place that only one or ten people will go to post daily. How would this work is up to you, though.

Considering how much traffic the Wii U board receives, merging them could actually lead to more replies even for the 3DS specific threads. I agree with a merger.

Since the only difference between the two general discussions are the solo modes, merging both sections would be the most logical action.

I'm surprised this hasn't happened sooner.

I'm all in for this. This would lead to more activity and replies on the 3DS side of things.

Merging the threads for a more unified Smash 4 experience... I like it.

They're really just the same game on different platforms, so I've thought we should have merged them since the Wii U game had launched.
