Melee Returns to Dreamhack!

The world-famous European eSports festival DreamHack announced that Super Smash Bros. Melee will be returning to three more DreamHack events!

The DreamHack Smash Championship tournament series will feature Super Smash Bros. Melee tournaments at DreamHack Austin in May, DreamHack Summer in June, and DreamHack Winter 2016 in November. With a total prize pool of $50,000, this series' competition will likely be very promising, both for the attending audience and the ones watching at home.

The closest event will be DreamHack at the Austin Convention Center, with registrations opening in early March. The huge prize pool is expected to attract some top player talent, so be sure to stay tuned for more updates!

Shoutouts to Armada for trying for so many years to convince the Dreamhack staff to include Melee in its roster, people like you are who make the Melee community so awesome!

What actually impresses me the most:
Dreamhack doesn't make any money out of this at all.
No sponsors, no ads during stream, no ads on YouTube.

The entry fee doesnt cover the price pool at all.
TOs, Streamer, Commentators etc getting paid.
They always rent equipment dedicated for Smash (cameras, etc)

So basically, Dreamhack throws a ton of money to the community out of thier own pocket :)

If someone is the MVP: then it's the Dreamhack crew

Glad Dreamhack is still doing this. Dreamhack just pours their resources into making us feel better about our 15 year old party game.
If only we could pay them back with something.
