Melee players: When did you first realize that Brawl was going to be a major disappointment?

For me, the game started to look suspect when they changed Fox from this cool, calm and confident badass;

to a bouncy Bruce Lee wannabe. The reports of Falcon sucking (historically, the state of Captain Falcon has been representative of a Smash game's quality) all but sealed the deal.

What say you?

I say this is a topic meant to start a flame war.

But regardless, I'll answer your question: never, as Brawl is not a major disappointment to me.

When I realized how slow and easier everything was and the lack of combos or really anything to do but play defensively. I was in that hype honeymoon phase i loved it due it was new and i sucked at melee but was really good at brawl i won a few local tourneys here and there i thought it was a bit odd in melee i got bodied by better players. Finally after learning more about melee and reading how sakurai said the game was meant for casuals i was sadden and moved back to the older entries to become a better player.

If there was ever a topic that made me close to hating the glory that was Melee, it is it's hardcore fans that act as if Melee vs Brawl is some important thing that everyone cares about.

Newsflash you are a vocal minority and a majority of people? They actually like Smash Brothers Brawl. So stop being so ****ing pompous all the time and bringing this tired ass subject up.

I agree, fox being a weird anime character and falcon sucking are the two biggest flaws in brawl

Why would I not play meta knight in brawl who is much better than falcon

Maybe because you shouldn't play a character just because a tier list says he's "better". You should play as the character(s) you like the best.

Why would I like a character who is too weak to play as. If he has no options that work well then I wont have fun with him

You do realize that while Brawl is slower it's far more expansive than Melee ever was and every tournament battle doesn't always end with Fox V.S Fox, no items, Final Destination, right?

(Not hating on Melee, the game was actually fun, but it is quite annoying to see Threads like this made.)

Well, if you think you can't have fun with a character because you consider him weak, that's fine. But don't expect me to agree with such shallow thinking.

But brawl is always meta knight vs metaknight on smashvie

And this is why competitive play for Smash is always something of a poked at subject in the fighting game community. You simply can't have a dynamic interesting tourney when the game itself has never been made for competitive play. It's wholely created as a series to simply be...

''Hey you like Luigi? Well, here beat the **** of Samus with him!"

Nothing more. Nothing less.

If you can only have fun with one character in a game that has a roster of over 30? Then well I feel sort of sad for you, actually.

Lol i guess but Ive never understood how people could play more than like an hour a week without competetive value. Its like eventually you just dont feel like having to make up your own fun in the game anymore. I feel the same way about minecraft as well. Im literally the only person I know who plays smash and if it wasnt for the competetive value id probably be playing football more often or going to some more parties or w/e. I find games that want to just be played light hearted and care free really boring after a while.

Well, I'd say just play the game(s) you have fun with and leave others to their fun. If you love Melee then just play Melee and don't give Brawl a second thought or play Project M.
